Can you believe how Grandma went off after hearing Jiyeun's idea about breaking up the work load to give themselves a break. Goeun looked terrified and seemed to not believe that Jiyeun had the nerve to bring up the subject.
Grandma just lost it. Especially when Grandpa told her that her workday was not going to change. :o
In a way, I don't blame her. Yeah, the ole workhorse can go on working while the young ones change their schedule for their comfort. . . ;)
Yoonsik seemed shocked at her response as was everyone at the table. Interesting scene.

hmmm ... I don't blame grandma at all. Jiyeun should have considered grandma in The GreatNewPlan. It would be good to give grandma one whole day off ... then Jiyeun would have a real feel for how good her plan would be with just the two of them working. I'm so amused by grandma... she speaks her mind ... much like Hanna

What is so amazing to me is that Grandpa told her that her schedule wouldn't /shouldn't change at all! You would think that one of the first things Gram would have done after getting this new grand-daughter-in-law is make arrangements for her eventual retirement from all the scut work! If it were me, I'd have a succession plan in the works!

It was a huge mistake, tactical and otherwise, for Jiyeun to bring this up without even talking to Goeun. Of course it's up to the family and the elders to make the decision about the G-DILs changing their work habits, but it was very arrogant of JY to propose this. She could have at least given Goeun a heads-up, and then GE would have been able to tell her she didn't think it was a good idea. After the bean-sprout-head incident, JY should be getting the idea that she doesn't know as much as she thinks she does.
I'm glad Grandma yelled at her and that JY is getting in trouble. This is a valuable learning experience for her and just the sort of thing her mother warned her about. I think learning to serve the family is going to be like a finishing-school experience for Ji-yeun. She's got a lot of good traits and is very smart, but she's never been forced to accommodate others, and so this will be good for her.

Seems like Jiyeun should have immediately apologized and withdrawn her proposal once Grandma had spoken. "OMG, I'm so sorry, of course you shouldn't work as much either, what was I thinking?Che so mida ,miana, aigu, I'm sorry" etc. Also, Jiyeun isn't familiar enough with the routines and likes and dislikes of the family to be on her own yet in the kitchen.

Well, she can really think fast on her feet. She might come back with some plan as to how it will also lighten G'mas workload, but she seems a bit rash. She wants to "fix" the household or improve the efficiency but she needs to cool her heels and spend more time getting to know the turf. I think Grandpa likes her innovation.

I tough it was a good idea but she should have included the grandma in the plan. But it seems the grandma always argues for petty things like the been sprout, big deal so you took the head off the been sprout at least try it without cutting peoples head off. The grandma is just taking advantage of her position as elder. she should remember that someday she would be too old to take care of herself and who is going to take care of her the[glow=red,2,300]daughters in-law[/glow]So if i was her i would be super kind to the people who will spoon feed her when old. ;D

Raven, I'd feel sorry if I were your MIL or GMIL, if I yelled at you, you probably wouldn't feed me that day.

Now that I think about it...what does grandma do? The only reason Jiyuen left her out is because she doesn't do anything. Really think hard about it. Besides establishing/approving the menu of the day, she always has Goeun make father's potato juice, everybody's tea, Goeun serves everybody all by herself, etc.
The only things I have seen her do is take a rag to her own room, check to see if the seasoning is good and iron grandpa's shirts. Grandpa is right, she should keep doing those not because it's her duty but to keep her body limber. If she were to sit around all day her muscles would tense up and she'd have a hard time getting up and sitting down on the floor.

You've got a point, GC! There's the possibility that we don't see what she does, but you're right--those girls probably do all the work. Maybe that fact will come to light in a discussion between JY and Goeun soon. "Did you hear how Grandma yelled at me, wife-of-younger-brother? What is she talking about? She doesn't even do anything!" " ---- ." (that's Goeun being afraid to say anything against Grandma.

You guys should give grandma a break. She's been "mother" to two generations, and that house is spick and span. She's coddled along all the appliances (not including a dishwasher!), been a careful keeper of family funds for household use, kept her fussy husband happy, raised four useful members of society, taken care of her borderline useless brother in law, and has worked hard her whole life. Of course she's a little resentful when the young whip comes in and wants to "improve" everything. Ji-yeun needs to learn some tact.
Sheesh.

Bo, I hate to break it to you, but Grandma is not a real person. I don't think she minds. But just in case, Sorry, Grandma!

Tis true Bo, but if we used that as Grandma's excuse, there would never be an improvement in any of their lives. And I stick to my guns, I don't like her. She is untactful.

I'm not saying that Jiyeun doesn't have good ideas or that people may or may not change toward each other. (And Lucy, your remark is illogical in the context of discussing a tv show. Just tell me about your wonderful life with Min-jae-I-mean-Jae-min one more time, LOL?) I'm saying that she'll have to learn to put them forward in a way that does not offend her boss--Grandma. That's what we all have to learn. I'm also saying, you guys are being pretty hard on Grandma when she's got reasons--legitimate or not, they're her reasons--for being so crabby to the girls. I don't feel free to discuss one of them because it's really a spoiler, but there's been plenty of other evidence that she's got a beef, and I assert it's understandable she'd have a hard time letting someone else tell her how to do things.
You doesn't has to like her, but you should "think how she must feel." Hee, heee.
Bo
Amendment: Oh! Hah! It's Galacticchick and Raven only I am here yelling at! Sorry everyone else. GD & Raven: "Think how she must feel."
Hah, hah, you don't know where I live so you can't hurt me!
