She-so-sweet, I love how she does every little thing. Like, when she put his headache pills on a napkin on a plate, and when she stands to the side hunching her shoulders when he yelled on the phone, but doesn't run away. He should be nicer to her, although from his behavior, I think he is being nice to her, comparatively. I see (from another thread) that they've had the "your music is sappy" conversation; I look forward to seeing it. He's got such bad manners, I wonder what attracts her to him. My theory is, he's JUST LIKE HER MOTHER. (I'll bet someone else came up with it and I'm just repeating their theory--nyah, nyah!)
I guess I'll repeat the part where I say, the reason I watched this particular Korean soap in the first place was because of Kyun Mi-ree, whom I first saw in "Tender Hearts" and for whom I conceived an instant fascination. She's the best.
Anyway, they deserve a thread. Socially unacceptable man and beautiful dreamer.

Absolutely, Bo. Quiltie deserves her own thread.
No one has advanced your theory, but it's a damn good one. Really! I thought she had that sweet, tolerant thing going on for him, but I didn't realize that it was because she was so used to witnessing and abiding accesses of rage that she isn't scared away by him. I just chalked it up to her unusually gentle personality.
I do wonder why she likes him, though. I've always felt it was because he was the only man to actually be around and come into her world regularly. She doesn't get out much, after all, and so if a reasonably attractive (if you like bad hair and angry ranting) single man appears day after day, she'd almost have to see him as her last chance.
I think that once he learns to appreciate her, he will realize how out of proportion his anger is and will tone it down.
Now, about Younger Grandpa, I hope he gets his singing career restarted and brings his family back from America. He needs a little female companionship, too!

LOL I was wondering myself why she would like him (like is she just desperate?) but I like your idea that she's just familiar with someone who has a sour disposition. It's so weird to see Lady Choi acting so docile! She is an excellent actress!

Maybe the resolution on my tv is bad, but his hair looks white to me, not yellow. Or maybe he went swimming and the chlorine turned his blond hair that green-ish hue.
I felt so sorry for Quiltie when she kept waiting and waiting for the director. How embarrassing ! And how many cups of tea did she have while she was waiting for him? I feel sorry for her bladder.
Young Granpa. You hit the nail on the head when you compared him to Troy McLure, Lucy-chan. He can dream to make it to #4 again.

Hey, get your own thread for those younger-grandpa comments! Harumph.
I only call him yellow hair man because whenever someone sees him, they ask why he has that "yellow in his hair" because he's "too old"--LOL.
You can try and try and try, but I'll NEVER call Aunt Kyung-jo "Quilty"--yuck. She's much more delicate than that. Aunty Q sounds like "antiquated" though, so I guess my solution may not work. Nsst, nsst, nsst.

It's so weird to see Lady Choi acting so docile! She is an excellent actress! Yes, she is, Catalpa. There was an unsubtitled show afternoons at the end of DJG season and Lady Choi was quite giddy. It was a comedy, maybe with a laugh track, and there was a lot of silliness. It was fascinating to watch the sinister Lady Choi being light-hearted. btw, the ads for this page are all for hair products- it's just amazing how the ads match the subjects we talk about.

Ginny, I think that was the pet shop show, there were threads on it in Other Shows. I saw it a few times, it seemed pretty funny, but I just don't have time... (apparently it's called "Dallae's House" or "Lovely Pet Dal-rae") Bo

She doesn't get out much, after all, and so if a reasonably attractive (if you like bad hair and angry ranting) single man appears day after day, she'd almost have to see him as her last chance. I think she sees him as mysterious! Notice how she knew that he came in at the same time every day and that he drank just one cup of coffee and smoked just one cig! She's been checking him out for awhile! And the whole hair color thing! Anyone past 40 who colors his hair in an "unusual" (not covering up gray!) way is an old hipster. Aunt is attracted to that kind of guy. You know, kinda wild and crazy! ;D

I think he likes her because she's so serene. But how can she stand him? Tonight there was one insult after another. I wish I had taken notes because I can't remember exactly what he said-she wasn't fazed, tho.

I think it's definitely yello, b/c tonight I had really clear reception, and it contrasted with the greying at his temples. Anyway, unless he's drastically different than he appears on the surfact -- feh! She can have 'im!
"If I drink and sit across looking at a woman -- my mouth becomes bitter." (and then takes a big gulp of red wine)
He does not deserve her!

"His mouth becomes bitter!" Yeah, right! ::)That's why he took Auntie out. She is gorgeous and he's enjoying her company. He's just so proud/undecided he's trying to make Himself believe that he's not interested. Maybe he's insulting her so she gets angry and tells him off--thus giving him an excuse (to himself) not to pursue her! He's struggling with his feelings for her and expresses them in an outrageous and insulting manner! But I think that she's in control here. Give the bull a little rope before you pull 'em in for branding!!!lol

He was so terribly insulting and rude that I can't believe she's still interested. He's carrying a ton of baggage and admits it, but he doesn't even want to change. She deserves better, even though he might come around. I just don't like seeing someone treat a person like that, no matter what sort of "pain" they might be in. To invite someone out on a date and then talk about why you don't like her or the gender she belongs to is nearly unforgivable. The man is a mass of red flags.

Doesn't this actress who plays the docile Aunty Q the same one that played the Dragon Lady Aunt in One Million Roses ? She sure does have a wide range if it is.
