Here's what I like about them: They're sweet, but not sickening. I loved when H was going on about how Ji-yeun does not make a good first impression, and G said to him, "You don't make such a great first impression yourself." Everyone says that, but it's funny to hear her say it to his face. And he just took it, because she's always saying stuff like that to him. You know, truth. I've got more stuff about them, but I'm just wanting to get the thread started.

OK, you're probably thinking this, too, Bo, but Goeun is such a kick sometimes. I think all she needs is a couple of girlfriends and she will be even more fun. (I can't wait until she gets in cahoots with sister Ji-yeun; I really don't believe in the warnings of the elders that Ji-yeun will push her around, because Ji-yeun has always been sweet to her. Maybe JY would do it inadvertently because of the way her personality is, but I don't think she's going to make GE do more than her fair share of work.)
Anyway, isn't it hilarious the way the elders warned Goeun not to try to make Hyunsik hop around like a bunny because he would never stand for it and there would be hell to pay, and the first thing she does when they're alone in their room is to pretend that she's going to punish him that way for every infraction? Who would have guessed at the beginning of the show that she would become funny and sort of sassy.

It drives me nuts the way he kisses her. It was cute the first few times, but now it's just annoying. I know they won't show it (nor do I really want to see it), but their wedding night hahahahaha. Does he even have any idea what to do? It makes me half laugh and half cringe, the very idea.
LOL,

Imagine Yoonsik in the same situation! On second thought, do yourself a favor and don't.

Well, I don't want to veer into anything crude, but Goeun was married before. Ahem.

Oh, I meant Yoonsik. Um .... well, let's just say I had a brain fart and I posted about the wrong couple! I mean Yoonsik and Jeiyeun. SORRY!!!! LOL
As for Geon and Hyoun-sik, they are a good couple. They seem to respect each other, perhaps because they went to hell and back to be together, and I think it's wonderful how the family has embraced her baby (Joon?)
So, why hasn't he finished the marriage registration???

They are waiting for the law on hoju to change, so he can legally adopt Joon. Unfortunately, I think that takes place about 3 or 4 years after this drama actually ended. I wonder what they do about it.

Bo, I don't think that's the same problem. The agreement is that he will register the marriage, and she keeps reminding him and he keeps forgetting. I wonder what's going on there. The thing about Joon is a separate issue, though I don't remember what the deal is. I thought at one point Hyunsik was thinking they could just pretend Joon was his and put him on the register since he has the same last name, or maybe I'm confused. I know Goeun has the same last name as the family (Kim), but that doesn't mean Joon necessarily does, unless her first husband was named Kim as well.

I think they're all named Kim, and I think it's an inside joke of the series. Because Grandma keeps running on and on about it. And everyone kept mentioning how lucky it was that Joon's father was a Kim, too, so it was a relief that they could at least pretend he's Hyun-sik's son.
But now that I think about it, Lucy, do you remember the scene in the park where G & H were discussing the fact that he can't sneak Joon onto the register? She asked him then if he'd registered the marriage, and I think he told her that when he found out he couldn't, he wanted to tell her right away and rushed out. That's why they met for lunch. So, he said, he forgot to do the marriage registration, and he promised her he would soonest. So, you're right, they're separate.
I doubt he's having second thoughts. He's probably just very, very, very busy at work and unable to get over there.

I hope his forgetfulness doesn't end up costing them in some way. It probably won't, IMO, since a lot of this series seems to be about everyday family life and not everything ends up being significant. I mean, on this show a bunch of elders can sit around quizzing each other on whether they've ever worn a bathing suit before and who will buy the sunglasses, so we're not always talking tight dialogue here.

Yes, I think the whole point of the show is, "This is a traditional Korean family. Here are some modern young ladies. Let's mix'em up and see what happens." So, there's room for leisurely conversations about saunas and bathing suits, and silly games between young lovers and old. That's what so attracts me to this show, I feel like it's a slice of Korean life. Like that documentary series, Gallus from England.

yeah, my favorite couple is hyunsik and goeun!!! i like their pairing....he's like the moody mysterious one and she's like the sweet happy girl.....and they look good together!! i wish they had more moments with them!!! for the other couples....although i like 'em, it's like just because goeun and hyunsik have gotten married they don't focus as much on that couple...but i guess that's expected.
