No, tinkerbell, I haven't bought it yet. Not just the cost but I'm not really in any hurry anyway, simply because my schedule is pretty tight right now and with watching DJY I wouldn't really have time to watch the DVDs much anyway. So as long as I know it's going to be available, I figure I'll order it sometime in the fall. Sorry I can't help corroborate you and duu on your experiences with the set, but you're doing a valuable thing sharing the info and I appreciate it. duu, definitely mention the quality issue with those episodes to KBS so they can see how big a problem it is; maybe they'll replace them for you.
You were wise to wait and skip the edited set! I bought the edited set only because I never thought they'd actually come out with the whole thing with the good subtitles. Oh well, sure am glad I was wrong.

Yep I will send an email to them for sure. But the whole set subtitles are not exactly 100% perfect either. But it is better for certain. YOu can always buy the missing episodes later.

Yeah DuU, I've had some weird stuff happening too. While watching episode 3 or 4, the picture just froze, got some funky colors, and the picture got distorted. I tried it in another DVD player and it worked fine. When I got to episode 40 something it happened again. Sometimes it will freeze and acts as if I paused it and was pushing the step button. I just figured I should hook up the other DVD player. I can usually get it to work by removing the disc and putting it back in. Now that I hear you are having similar experiences, I guess it must be the disks. I know I've asked before if anyone besides you and I have ordered them. I find that hard to believe and would like to hear if others are dealing with this also. I had mentioned about the subtitles before too, but like you said, they're not 100% on TV either. ajk, when you finally do get your set, I hope you don't have any problems.I hope I just have a junky DVD player and it's not the disks. If you do e-mail KBS DuU, let me know what they say.Maybe they're not producing them correctly.

I am glad its not just me then. I hate when it auto advances like that. Then when you want to go back up to the point where you left off, the player stops the disc. List which episodes you are having troubles with. So far it is 59-65 and 75+76. Will have to check for more.

tinkerbell, I have had the problem you are describing with poorly copied DVD disks. I have been receiving review copies of certain K-dramas, and that has been a consistent problem. (They're not new (preview) dramas but old ones I'm reviewing for a Korean paper in Minneapolis). I'm not sure why this happens, but in my case, I think it's because they just want to slam it onto some disks and get it out to me. However, I would be really pissed if I had paid for them.
Particularly, when I got Damo, there were several places where although the picture was fine, the subtitles only appeared for a split second and I had to perform complicated DVD gymnastics to go back and try to stop on that place. Also, on another set I had that thing where it looked like the show just ground to a standstill, but the timer kept ticking and then the "tape began rolling" again. Rather annoying.
So my point (and I do have one) is that maybe they are just copied by an inexpert or careless person. I know this would never happen if myBob were doing it. But that's another tangent...lol...

DuU, I can't really log any specific episodes because sometimes they are fine and the next time the same episode could act up. I will check out the episodes you mentioned and see if I have a problem. Usually by turning the power off on the DVD player and turning it back on or removing the disk and putting it back in has worked for me. Of course you will be back at the beginning then. If you can't get it to play right in any player you have, then it has to be defective. The occasional problem is probably either the way they copied the disks or the quality of the player(or maybe both). We should e-mail KBS, after all we paid a good price and I so desperately want the show, but quality should come with the price. It's not like we bought them from some bootlegger in a dark alley.

Taking into consideration what you said Bo, chances are that is exactly the problem(poorly copied and perhaps rushed). Not good for business at all. It's funny how we describe the same problems in different words. "The show just ground to a standstill", "the split second subtitles", I know exactly what you mean. In that split second somehow you caught a glimpse of a word and when the subtitles come on again, you think, wait a minute that's not what I saw. Then you have to do the DVD gymnastics for one sentence. Have you ever told KBS of this "consistent problem" or do you get the dramas elsewhere?I can tolerate the subs, but you definitely want good video.

The errors are consistent in certain spots. My home dvd player is the only one that will play through it all. my comp or PS2 always choke.

Tinkerbell, I'm not getting the dramas from KBC or anywhere. Someone else is buying legit DVDs, and since they don't want to lose their originals, they are sending me in-a-hurry copies for reviewing only. So it isn't important if I get really good ones.

tinkerbell and duu--One thing that occurred to me reading your recent posts is that KBS America is going to need to offer a better warranty period on these large DVD sets. I mean, they can't possibly expect people to watch a 100-episode series in two weeks, but according to the "Terms & Conditions" page on their website, any defects have to be reported within 14 days. Even if I watch two episodes every week it will take a year to get through IYSS. What happens if I get to the last few episodes and there's a quality problem?
I can understand a 14-day period for single-episode orders, but they're going to have to come up with something better for entire series. For everyone reading this thread, as we order these sets we'll want to ask them about this. Not that there's any reason to expect trouble; they seem like very nice people and I'm sure will want to make everything right.

ajk, I agree. Some people might not have read that, but I read it before I ordered. I thought 2 weeks was way too short. Even watching 2 or 4 episodes a day wouldn't allow you enough time.

ukfan, I'm glad you got to watch IYSS. I could talk about the drama for hours and I can't imagine anyone not being blown away by it. It's still #1 in my book. IYSS really changed my life and it is so awesome, there aren't enough words to describe it. Anytime anyone wants to discuss it, I am more than willing.Words can't come close to describing the magnitude of this drama to someone who hasn't seen it. It's an experience! ;D

Here I am wasting my time away and this man had to overcome so much to achieve what he had achieved. If only I could be 1% of what he was, I would be satisfied! Here is a quote for you and let's see whether you know which episode it came from, "I will not be defeated mother. Not anymore..... I will fight force with force and authority with authority...I will never let anyone step on me again". These are very powerful and highly inspirational words huh? ;D ukfan

Hi back to you, UKFan. Thought we'd lost you for good, LOL. I'm as well as can be expected.
Okay, tinkerbell & ajk, are you saying that you are having these issues on DVDs you bought from KBS? That's ridiculous! I'd definitely complain vociferously (where did I put that dictionary, LOL), no matter how long I'd had them. That's just wrong.
