Turtlemaster, please note Ginny's words. Moderators are here to keep things civil. We have an unusually nice board here; people tend to get to know each other and have conversations without a lot of the arguments and angry language that tends to erupt elsewhere on the Internet, and we like to keep it that way. You are welcome to post any time, but please keep it civil. Thanks.

;D Bo is mightyy!!!!! And way to go Ginny! that little person was rude Btw, there are theories that YSS didnt die at all after the war. In actuality, only YSS' generals saw him 'die' so there were no other witnesses. He might have done this so that he could live in peace after the war if the King Sonjo thought he was deceased. Also, someone remarked before that if they were NalBal, they would have stopped YSS or something. Nalbal is a ficticious character.

Yeah--Nalbal, he's ficticious but delicious. Hah. I'm der poetica.
That's an interesting theory, by the way. Is that from the Elvis Society? LOL. Seriously, it does sound rather unlikely that no one would have seen him and shouted it far and wide. But it's a nice thought, he could go back to his long-suffering wife and let her take care of him for once. I keep thinking, if the king hated him that much, he'd demand to see the body. You know, to be "sure."

From the way the drama portrayed it, i can see Admiral Yi becoming more & more depressed.
Since they didn't have treatment of depresion back then, i can see him taking this to the level of not necessarily suicidal, but certainly reckless behavior.
DId he know this was the last battle of the war? If so, i can see that just went wild in the last battle, and die, not by suicide, per se, but dyinghonorably by defending his country.
i want to write an Alternate History fiction where Asians, not Europeans, settle America. Part of the alternate history would be Dae Jang Geum escaping to America back in the day, and perhaps coming back just in time to save Admiral Yi & taking him to America...perhaps creating the Colonial revolution nearly 200 years earlier that in our history.

The immortal Yi Soon shin is my favorite Tv series so far. I'm not korean, and at first had a little trouble trying to memorize their faces, No offense here, but they all looked the same to me. But then I got more attached to the story, and I just loved it. Yi Soon Shin's an exatraordinary person. I don't know a lot about Korean history, or whether he really died that way. And if he did, I guess it was for the best, bc according to the tv series, the king was very concerned about the way the people loved him and respected him, more than any other officer or even himself, so who knows if he stayed alive, the people wouldn't have grown rebellious against the king and wanted Yi Soon Shin to take the throne. Lol, I feel like I'm telling some fiction story, anyways, I'm very impressed by the Korean Drama, it makes me wanna learn to speak korean and understand better what they say.

Hi, Gigi. You don't have to be too embarrassed about mixing people up in the historical dramas, because they are all wearing the same clothes, the men all have the same facial hair and the women all wear the same wigs. LOL. I go by the voices and eventually, I can "see" them. If you keep watching the dramas, after awhile you start picking out repeated words, like "changoon" (sorta phonetic) for "your highness", "mamanim" for "my lady", "mamah" for a royal person, etc. I forget the word for general, but I sure knew it when I watched YSS.
Anyway, have you seen Dae Jang-geum? That is my favorite historical drama, because it revolves around the lives of the women in the palace, rather than just being all about war and fighting. I hear they are making a musical about it. Can you imagine a musical about Yi Sun-shin? LOL. I just want to hear Minister Yun (that was the bad guy, right?) singing about power and duty...in a high, whiney voice. LOL.

I thought changoon was general. Pay-ha is emperor or king in one era or other. Aboje or abonim is father. Kah-jah=let's go! I used to know a few more.

I meant "chone-ah" for king. I'll say it again. D'oh. Bo PS - "Immeasurable Grace" is the lead singer for Im Ho and the Palace Cuties, Kathleen. LOL.

Hi TheBo, I appreciate your reply, and no I haven't seen the historical drama you mentioned. Right now, I'm watching Pure in heart and The infamous chill sisters. They're far from being historical, but I love learning more about the Korean culture, which is kind of close to mine( Arabic). Also, it's hard to imagine a musical about YSS, they hardly laughed in the tv series, and the story's so dramatic it'll be weird to have them singing! However if they ever do it, I'd love to see it
