It didn't air yet. They had specials episodes last week and Gnghis Khan will start this week. I'm personally not expecting too much. If everything else is good, it will probably have insidious political/historical view of sinocentrism since it was made not by Mongolia but China, in inner Mongolia, with original lines all in Chinese and stuff. But the show itself may be good. They seem to have put in a lot of budget.

It seems that I cannot view "Genghis Kahn" with VOD. ******* sigh ******* I'll finish viewing AOW and I'm waiting a new French historical mini-series set in the period of the Hundred Years War (but certainly without battle scene ).

I just watched a little bit of the first episode. Aside from the historical view and stuff, strictly speaking about the quality, I'd say it's somewhat lower than Korean historical shows in general. First episode got the rating of 13.2%... That's not too good, considering that Yi Sunshin had far higher than that, nor too bad since it's a foreign production. If you ask me, though, It doesn't intrigue me all that much. I wonder what Koreans' reactions will be. I'll have to wait and see.

If you want action-packed blockbuster historical drama, it will be a good choice. The scenery of Mongol (endless steppe and blue sky) and some battle scene were quite magnificent. But, I'm sorry to say this but... I think the Mongol actors were somewhat clumsy in general. The Korean dubbing actors were not matched to them as well. Most of all, too many characters were introduced at the same time, which made TV viewers confused. As for those who love something emotional, like me, this drama will not be a good choice. I'm going to forget Genghis Kahn and rewatch my Yi Sun-shin video from ep. 1. Sigh

I got a hold of first two episodes. The quality is actually better than YSS, I would say. The only poblem is "Sino-centric" view of the drama, which incorporate Mongolian and Manchurian(Kin Dynasty who is presented as the chief opponent of Genghis Kahn) history as "Chinese" when they are not.

I may have recommended this before, but -Until the Sun Falls- by Cecelia Holland is a very engaging bio of Genghis Khan, and not Chinese, either.

A photo from Genghis Kahn. What's the name of that stuff ? I guess I heard the name, but forgot it. Weapon maniacs would be interested in this drama. www.kbs.co.kr/drama/genghiskhan/gallery/index.htmlOn the other hand, after viewing some pics on KBS site, it seems to me that Mongolian actors are not as "fine" (in the sense of an african-american slang that I learned from Bo ) as Korean actors. It's not astonishing that Mongolians demanded to send Korean women to Mongol as "female tribute" ( gong nyo) in the 13th century.

Wow! that looks great.
I still don't understand how Mongolians became Chinese in some people eyes. China is made up of many different ethnicities altogether so I can see where the conclusion might of came from, but saying the Mongols were from China is too much.

A photo from Genghis Kahn.... [pic here] What's the name of that stuff ? I guess I heard the name, but forgot it.... Do you mean the weapons? They look like giant crossbows. Are those supposed to have been used by the Mongols? I seem to have heard that somewhere lately. I don't know what THEY called them, though. Bo PS - funny thing. I kept having to reload the page to see incremental bits of the photo you posted. Every time I reloaded, I got more of the photo.

Incredible how Shin Don was never able to beat Ghenghis Khan once in viewership rates since it started.
