I was just wondering what everyone is reading these days, that is if there is time for reading. Or what is the last book that you've finished?
[mod note--couldn't stand the question mark any more--after all, we've established YSS fans DO read books, LOL-Bo]

I'm trying to get to The hitchhicker's guide to the galaxy before I see the movie. Hopefully before it leaves the theaters. Before that was Bone out of boneville (trade paperback).

I just finished the penultimate Amelia Peabody from Elizabeth Peters (Barbara Michaels)--can't remember the title, those are mysteries, just for fun. Right now, I'm attempting to read Christina Stead's I'm Dying Laughing, but it's so dense in the beginning, I may as well be reading The Fountainhead--an examination of the communist movement in 1920s USA. So, that's my bedtime book, good as a sleeping tablet. Also, my sister pressed Carol Shields' Unless on me for "on the train," and it's turning into a nice little read, not too intense in the brains department. Summer reading.

Almost finished with Hirohito: And the making of modern Japan. Half way through with The Two Koreas by Don Oberdorfer, Started Mein Kampf by Hitler (I believe everyone should read this in their lifetime. A good insight on how sick that man was and how to prevent anyone else form becoming like him) and re-reading Romance of the Three Kingdom (hey, its a must to read that book again, what can I say?)
It all seems like I reading too much but I try to read a couple pages here and there. With the girlfriend, the job, and friends, its hard to get some time alone and fully read a good amount of pages.

Yeah, I did the same thing too but I read the entire series before seeing the movie. All I can say is that apart from the opening dolphin scene I was very disappointed with the movie.

Did you read mostly harmless as well (the very last one)? I just bought that in PB. The other 4 I have in hard cover. I have read them before but I wanted to refresh for the movie. I did the same with LOTR.

Moreshige, the book is titled A Short History Of The Chinese People by L. Carrington Goodrich. It is brief (a survey) at 247 pages and covers up until the republic in 1912. Is a Dover book. Dover has great books at good prices. Check out doverpublications.com some time.

I'll go get to reading that too.

I have a question for all you book lovers. Do you like non-fiction or fiction? I personally can't stand reading fiction. I don't know what it is but knowing what I'm reading never happened or will happen in real life is a big turn off for me. I always had a tough time in my english class because it was mandatory to read fiction to learn the format of telling a story. Watching a fictional movie is a different story because I'm into any story that is told right on screen.

I still need to read American Gods. Oh I guess I figured out my next book.

If his humor is found in his other books then I'll definitely buy them.
