I'm not sure, n q, but I think you can get them on line, by video download. Isn't that what you are doing, Florel?Bo I'm watching IYSS on VOD. It's impossible to download this online video. But it's free if one can register as a KBS website member.

Florel, what do you think is the Japanese motivation here? The islands are unimportant in and of themselves and for Japan to create a "second front" of distress for South Korea at this time seems rather cruel.

The Japanese extreme right is manifesting the territorial expansionism. Japan illegally took the islets in 1905 before annexing the Korean peninsula in 1910. It was the beginning of the Japanese imperialism which collpased after WWII. One hundres years passed, now it seems we are having a nightmare : the repetition of history. Japan, quite different from Germany, has never apologized her war crimes of the past. The war criminals were never punished. On the contrary, they are venerated by the extreme right. That's why asians neighbors have a suspicious look toward Japan.

This is especially amazing considering how many American, British and other Allied POW's suffered and died while in Japanese custody.

I decided to read more into this issue and I find this very.......... This issue is clearly won by the Koreans since its earliest reference date back to the Silla dynasty. (Correct me If I'm wrong) The thing I'm worried about is young people from both sides are gonna react with some extreme ignorance. I saw some statements made where one person said Koreans take things way too serious and they need to get over with the past war, while another said all japanese people are idiots and they act like they rule the world. All these generalization is just waiting for some conflicts when it all started from men with egos. The ego is truly the formidable enemy of man.

Actually, Japan wants to take the issue before the International Court of Justice. But Korea refuses it. Even though we have historically based right, we know we have very rare opportunity to gain before the International Court. The ICJ has already been bribed by the Japanese money and one of its members is Japanese. Recently, ARTE (a french-german cultural TV station) aired a program on this issue at the Japanese side. They showed a map marking the islands as Japanese territory. France is a japanophile country and she adores Japan money. I don't blame every Japaneses. The young Japanese have no responsibility for their ancestors' war crime. But I'm really worrying over the Japanese EXTREME RIGHT. (Most of them are, I guess, in old generation having a nostalgia of their past military glory.) I don't like them as much as I hate Korean and French extreme right.

True. extreme liberalism can be just as bad. PETA comes to mind when I think of extremists on this side of the political spectrum.
