in an attempt, and i hope not a futile one, i am starting this thread to stretch our minds and spark our imaginations...to liven and lighten things up a bit.
please feel free to use any form, or make up your own.
(thanks to VIB for the idea over on the AOW tangents board)
i will start with a haiku...
nalbal, warrior protector of yi soon shin highly skilled swordsman.

Wow, luvarchfiend, your haiku is relatively sedate and serious (I like it) compared to some of the limericks I saw over at AOW's tangents . I'll scratch my brain. It'll be fun. Bo

Aww, man, you guys are so mean to that poor woman! (Very funny.)
You know, you frightened me with that "unhinged" name--I was almost afraid to open the thread and see what it was, LOL!

I gather from your last post (Luv) that YSS's wife is either a boring character, or played a bad actor.

She's not a bad actor at all. She just plays a quiet, shy person, rather stoic. People find her boring; they also wanted YSS to "be with" Mi-jin, who was more tempestuous and, I suspect, more like what American women would like to be. (I sure wouldn't mind being like Mi-jin.) I think she (YSS's wife) is admirable. She's holding down the home fort for YSS all by herself; she reminds me of those medieval wives, running huge estates with economy and loyalty while their husbands were on the Crusades, and never even getting a mention in the history books for their trouble. Bo (unfinished) see, i knew i would get flack for that. the unhinged had more to do with how i felt after my drive home on the snowy, icy roads. the actor is good, seven stars. she cannot help the fact that they have her portraying the wife of YSS with so little emotion. the real wife was probably everything bo described. LAF (unremorseful)

Far out, luvdessert and AW. We're on a roll now. I was going to write the Aigu Haiku, but it's not going so well. Maybe it's too painful. There once was an admiral from Chosun He turned out to be quite a big gun While the West was all jealous, The East said, King, tell us! Ain't Yi Soon Shin a natural shogun? (With apologies for cross-cultural referencing and awkward phrasing) Bo (unbelievable)

Here's something silly I came up with, taken from a scene that made me chuckle aloud: when Sung-ryong and YSS were looking at that outdated map of Japan (after the Japanese delegates informed Song-ryong that Japan had a large army) and "forget his name" (he's always with the lady poet) unexpectantly walked in on them. What he said struck me so funny. His manner was like - where did you dig up that piece of junk! What is that? That you obscure? What is that I see? It is an ancient scroll I'm sure An old map it seems to be Let me see! Oh let me see! As I grab it and unfold What? Oh my my! Oh hee hee hee! Two-hundred years so very old! It is no good, and is not handy, not even worth a piece of candy! lol, that's what he said! Well, I thought it was funny.

aw, eowyn and bo......great stuff. i will have to sharpen my creativity. luvdessert eh, bo? something scrumptious to be sure. ***************************** there was a man named yi soon shin who, i think, loved the maiden mi-jin when she looked at him her heart would melt but he never told her how he felt oh what a love there might have been. (okay, so not my best work ) LAF or LD (unforgettable) good or bad

let's try this one...... By twilight you can find him there Looking out at the sea. Sorting his thoughts, biding his time Wondering, what is to be. By dawn’s dim light he will be there Communing with the sea. Searching for answers, searching for comfort The haunted, Admiral Yi. What is it that draws him there To those waters of the sea? There he finds strength, there he finds peace His heart and his mind are set free. And by day’s end when all are at rest Do not wonder where he will be. Just go to the place that captures the soul He’s answered the call of the sea. well still out of practice, hopefully i will get better or quit.
