:'(NO NO :'(NO I still think mom is lying. With a dead alleged father mom is somewhat safe with her lie... BUT if Sangghuk and Joonsang are brothers... we're dealing with a very much alive father and husband.... or is my denial going to send me to the looney bin ... ... and to think that I'm hosting a dinner party tomorrow and will have to wait till everyone is gone to see what happens next. weren't they the sweetest couple in that little church!! oh my... somebody please agree that mom is a lier and let's work out the logic here. Right, love and logic go so well together. good nite...

Well, we still have three episodes to go, I think. Lots of time for something interesting to happen.
How can Mihee be so certain who Joonsang's father is? Sanghyuk's dad certainly thought there was a possibility that he was JS's dad, so unless he doesn't know about the birds and the bees there must have been some opportunity, right?
Or are we all just in denial? My reaction to the end of the episode was AARRRGH!

thanik you chi8 you're right... lots of things can happen in 3 hours.. Like the first 10 minutes to nite when Sanghuk's father said that Joonsang and Yujin are siblings ... That took me by surprise because I thought by the end of this evening's story nothing like that would have been stated. I think Jerry Springer or Dr. Phil should be calling Mihee for a special one-hour appearance

Kathleen: I agree with you - She lies like a bad toupee!!!!
I think this...She was SO bereft at the demise of her engagement that she went bonkers....Then Sanghyuk's dad, like the kind man he seems to be, either endeavored to console her...or save her from herself. He probably loved her as well, but realized she was out of reach, being an engaged person. The consolation thing probably got out of control (like these things often do - he's only human). In her state, she made up her own ending - just like we are doing.
I am really having a difficult time here - I have NEVER been a soap-opera fan, English or otherwise. I started with Daejanggeum (was surfing and thought it was another cooking show and got pleasantly surprised). I was disappointed in The Phoenix, devastated by Damo (@*&!?!!) and thought well, maybe this time it would end well. (I am counting on Knov1's spoiler comment).
I've been so concerned for these characters (actually, each one is kind of special) - I've had to distract myself by watching "Two Week's Notice" three times, "Notting Hill" and now Walt Disney's "Chip 'n' Dale" cartoons.
Yes, I do have a life, but as the saying goes "Expectation delayed makes the heart sick". I need the Dockta.

As for 23, I'll deal with the highlights that ppl (if they will) provide. I won't have time to catch the recap b/c I'll be @ school Monday. Thanks again!

I have a feeling there is a major tragedy to come. I'm thinking they ARE brother and Sister and Joonsang is just so in love with her that he is willing to "push the thought way back in his mind" since he seemed to know and still wanted to either "run away with her" get married and not have to give her up. I mean just because he found out they are siblings, he can't just pretend he doesn't still love her...and turn off those feelings and start feeling brotherly...I'm thinking he will probably commit suicide, as that is the only way he can let her go without telling her, and then she can go on with her life. But maybe I'm way off here, it just seems a big tragedy is about to happen.

oh dear valerie, I was thinking along those tragic lines as well... not just him... but a Romeo/Juliet kind of ending. If in fact they are siblings, you're right... death would be a consideration ... and isn't it some kind of honor thing rather than bring disgrace to the family... They're such good actors I have to tell myself... "Kath... this is just a STORY'... it's so well done... I could accept a Romeo/Juliet ending easier than just having him die because Yujin's life would be forever filled with such sadness...

Kathleen,I love your insights. No! No! No! No way can they be bro and sis and have this thing end badly. That mother (Joon's) is lying like a rug!!! When I was little my mama would say, "Don't worry! It has to turn out alright!." If it didn't this wouldn't be the world-wide phenomena it is. Korean New Wave!!!Bring it on. As an aside,my hubby has been listening while in his adjacent office and came out last night to watch the episode. He was so upset by last night's episode!!!This really has a way of pulling everyone in. My hubby bought my little girl and myself the Polaris necklace on Yesasia.com and it is really cute. My girl also got the cd and the vid is in the mail! Am I nuts or what? ?

well Bungalowdweller it's such fun reading your comments... I'll rest a little easier having just read your thoughts... and if you're nuts... we're ALL going a a far-away place I'm worse than you.... I ordered the Polaris neckless from YesAsia on Friday for MYSELF ... and I'm somebody's grandmother. Yikes.... roll out the red carpet to the bin.... I'm particularly fascinated with Japan's love of this wonderful story.

Kathleen 34, I appreciate your comment about Japan's love of this story. Not only the story, but the actor, Yonsama and the actress "Yujin" have made such an impression. "Yujin" was voted #1 favorite Korean personality in Japan. WLS has made such an impact on Japan that it has helped bridge the 2 countries closer, since it has been quite strained due to past history. They even awarded the director of "WLS" for helping that "bridge". There was an article in a Japanese magazine of how much it made an positive impression for one man. Also about Yonsama, that even as a celebrity he is still very considerate and compassionate to everyone. As you can tell I am a 50+ Yonsama fan.

good morning smji - earlier this month my son was in Japan for 2 weeks (he works for McDonalds) and before he left I told him about the Korean/Japan connection and how this story has east relationships between the two countries. He's a good son... he listened and politely said he would try to bring it up.
WELL, on his last nite in Japan he brought up the subject at dinner... and e v e r y o n e at the table knew what he was talking about ... and stated how well received the story is in Japan.
Isn't that cool? Without being over emotional I simply agreed and thanked him for brining it up.

So episode 23, the part where Joonsang and Yujin are in church and Sanghyuk comes barging in and drags Yujin away, I asked myself, what the hell is wrong with Yujin? If I'm with the love of my life at the altar and my ex comes in and tries to drag me away, believe me fists are going to fly I mean Yujin was just screaming but didn't do much. She didn't try to punch him or anything, she basically let herself be dragged away. I would've demanded some type of explanation. AHHH, I was so mad

As hachiue, ever so politely says, "wtf?" Did you guys notice that they changed Joonsang's suit? When he was standing in front of the mirror he had this mandarin collar shirt and suit (I didn't care for it too much) and then when he was in the church he ended up having a silver tie (I preferred this look). And I know I'm being a little (okay a lot) superficial here, but what the heck was going on with Yujin's dress? It was hideous. She looked like a four year old. And they did a close up on the material and ohmygod it looked as if the designers from Project Runway made it out of paper towels, granted the quilted and absorbent kind, but paper towels nonetheless.

YES! I would have bit him or something. As hachiue, ever so politely says, "wtf?" Bit him? That is to funny. But yeah, if that was me, I swear somebody would've ended up in the hospital. I mean how dare he just drag her away and Yujin not put up a fight? I would've grabbed the closest object to me and whacked him upside his head!! yeah she was screaming, but screaming is not going to help. That scene really got me charged up. And Joonsang didn't do or say anything either. I guess it was cause he knew that Sanghyuk had found out and he figured he couldn't do anything about it.
