Apparently he's a singer, too! Wow, he's all of 28 years old. Sheesh. I should be arrested. _____________________________________________ Oh my!!! um.... my, my, my!!!

While returning from the grocery store this morning I heard just a bit of an interview of a Chicago-area writer with a new book of short stories based on his growing up in Thailand. In discussing endings, which he always finds to be difficult to write, he quoted the old writers'-workshop addage: "A story's ending should always be surprising and yet inevitable." Did WLS writers have than in mind when crafting the ending to our story?

Doesn't he kind of remind you of Jinkook in that picture? Same kind of hairstyle (a little bit puffier though). I like him better with his preppy look.

Totally, I thought so, too! That smooth, hairless chest and the pointy little Adam's apple are two reasons. I also prefer him a little more clean-cut, though the metrosexual looks works well for Jinkook. True confession time: I just ordered his CD from Yesasia.com. I wouldn't have been that tempted, but it was only 9.99 and it got really good reviews. Apparently he really is a good musician, not just a guy trying to capitalize on his TV popularity. I'll let you guys know how it is. Lucy shamefaced K-drama fan

I think everyone in these dramas is in their early to mid 20s. It seems like the women are all around 23 and the men are all around 28 or so. As proof, I offer the article that said Bae, aka Yon-sama, was past his prime at 32. Q.E.D. The actors are all 28 years old in the drama. I'm not sure if people here got the catchphrase of "Winter Love Song" beforehand. It's; What if you meet your first love exactly 10 years later? Yujin and JS was high schoolers when they first met and were 18 years old at the time - so were the rest of the crew. The actual age of actors; Bae Young-joon was born in 1972 (JS) Choi Ji-woo in 1975 (Yujin) Park Young-ha in 1977 (SH) Park Sol-mi in 1978 (Oh Che-rin)

Thanks for those links, eun.
Park young ha looks so much more different than in the series. What a change a hairstyle can make. It looks like he's in a mall of some sort.
I have to wait till home to look at the Bae Yoon one because this computer is so S...L...O...W

Thank you, Eun!! What a little cutie. Did you notice that he was singing the WLS theme in that clip?
I know I sound like such an American rube, but I love the way Asian people bow to each other as greeting. If we had to do that, I bet we'd treat each other a lot more respectfully.
Now I'll go watch the other clips.

Eun, I'm sorry if you've said this already, but are you Korean? Do you know if that's Yong-ha singing on the OST as well? The notes are in Korean for the most part, so we don't know who sings and what the songs are called. Thanks!

isn't it funny? I play the OST daily... and love it... but am clueless as to what anyone is saying and yet I love the lyric pieces as well as the instrumental pieces...
I guess it's the same when I listen to classical music... they're singing in German and Latin and again, I'm cludless as to the interpretation... but I DO know the story behind the music ... and I guess it's the same thing with our beloved Korean music

Know what, though? I've learned some good French listening to Jacques Brel records. It hasn't helped me speak it, much, but my vocabulary has increased and it's helped my understanding overall. Although if I could speak French better, my use of slang would probably be circa 1958 as a consequence. P.S. Kathleen, have you noticed the mix of English and Korean? (You probably have.) In "My Memory," for example, the song starts out with that phrase, and then again, toward the end, you can hear, "I'm gonna love you forever . . ." In between is a lotta stuff for which I can't even distinguish the sounds. They also did that on some of the songs on the soundtrack from "On the Green Prairie." Or, wait, I think it was French and Korean on that one.

WOW! we ARE the league of nations here... You're right about the mixed English on the WS/OST -- my memories ... and also you're far away....I've gotta listen for "I'm gonna love you forever..."
think of how many people are missing this wonderful assortment of dramas, both historical and contemporary ... and most of us kinda just accidently stumbled onto Channel 28 - KBC TV... I found it 4 years ago and I am so surprised that my interest hasn't worn out. When the first drama came to an end, I was shocked because American soaps never end. I thought it very refreshing to have a bginning, middle and end... and then start all over again.
and you get to see various actors playing such different roles. I'll be getting my DaeJangGeum english subtitled dvds soon.... 5 years ago I never knew such things were out there!
and this message board is the best. When I first began to love these Korean dramas I would search all over the place and wouldn't find anything! So when I discovered this 'fan club' site, it was just very cool.
ok... back to work now.

You're right, I forgot that one. "love you forever" comes near the end, I think. It's not in the same place (beginning of a verse) as "My memory" and "You're far away." I think it's at what you might call the bridge, or if not, it's where the melody goes way up, if you know what I mean. "I'm gonna love you forever, Da-da-da, da-DA." LOL It's funny trying to explain this. But since you listen to it all the time, you probably know just what I mean. Yes, this is one heckuva great board. You've been watching for four years! You've got me beat. What finally got you to sign up and start posting? (I see you're a "New Addict.") I only started watching roughly 2 years ago. It was "On the Green Prairie" that caught my eye as I flipped around. Probably I thought Chae Rim was really cute and I saw there were subtitles, so I stopped and watched. Funny thing is, periodically I go through all the available channels, one by one, to see if any new and fascinating cultures are now available for my enjoyment. I keep thinking there's going to be something as good as the Korean shows, not that there's not enough K-drama to keep me going.
