I didn't watch "Damo" after the first ep, but wasn't it clear from the first episode that things were going to turn out tragically? It looked to me like that, at least, without knowing how all the characters were going to be related; it seemed to be a frame for the rest of the series to be essentially a flashback--or maybe I imagined that. At any rate, I am going to pretend that all will be well with YJ and JS, because they are scarf-and-sweater-wearing soulmates, and SASW soulmates should ne'er be parted.

oh Lucy, you're so right! have you perhaps applied for a writing position for KBC? your comments are an absolute delight.
DAMO ranked right up there with Romeo & Juliet for sadness. I read on another post that the guy who wrote the music for DAMO was killed in the Tsunami... So even outside the script there's lots of sadness.

Kathleen, you are so sweet! Thank you for the compliment. If only I spoke Korean, I would love to write for the soaps. That way, I could be sure all the plot lines made sense, and things would always turn out the way I want them to.

So even outside the script there's lots of sadness. DAMO was very sad. I cried so much at the end. I recorded the last 4 episodes so even now if I watch the ending again I will cry. Alot of people might say that life doesn't always have a happy ending, and that is so true. Which is why I want to see something with a happy ending. Life (in general) is already tragic and sad as it is, I need to see something that is going to lift up my AND which is why I hope that Yujin and Joonsang end up together

I agree, Lucy, and couldn't have said it better Besides, they've been through wayyyyyyyyy too much already, and waited 10 long years to reconnect.

There was so much they could have done with Damo - instead they made it into a Sam Peckinpah(misspelled I'm sure) extravaganza!!!! Blood spurting everywhere; slow motion death. I was SO angry I nearly took Channel 28 off my TV list! - So devastating an end. I still don't know what the point of the program was I'm tellin' ya - If WLS doesn't turn out for the lovers..... *I* will turn into a Sam Peckinpah extravaganza!

That is so funny. Everyone look out! The day after WLS ends, take cover in case it doesn't turn out the way we want it to! There will be HTML and pixels splattered all over the place. If it doesn't end happily, CC3 and Kathleen, we'll have to ask the moderators to start a new board: "WLS Alternate Universe," and we can write our own ending. Soon we'll forget about the "real" ending and we will be healed. I think you did spell it right, BTW, though I'm not going to look it up. (I'm kind of addicted to double-checking myself all the time . . . must stop . . . .)

man, in a perfect world we could all get together and watch the final episode ... Kleenex in hand! Either way it will be worthy of our tears.
a WLS rant should be in order if these two beautiful people don't get together ...

The lone dissenter has returned to weigh in!
I rather like sad endings occasionally (but not all the time) because I've come to expect saccharine hollywood endings for everything and if I get a sad ending every once in a while then I'm actually happy for the happy endings instead of sarcastically saying "oh here's that hollywood ending tacked on for you."
I'm weird like that. As an OT example, I saw Brazil with the director's cut first and can't even stomach the regular ending because it's a hollywood ending that they just shoved on to keep the moviegoing public happy.

well I was all set to turn off my computer for the night... then read your comment , Hachiue... and you know, you're right about the happily-ever-after ending. It seems Hollywood always turns love stories into something Norman Rockwell-ish
I'll bet that each of us on this board have had sad ... even dreadful endings to real-life matters. Builds character... or so they say.
.I guess the reality of life presents very few nice, tidy endings.
...but still, my only hope is that they are not blood relatives. Several comments have been made about Yujin's bad hair style... I think her hair is lovely and soft and shiny. Joonsang's hair, on him, is sexy.
ok... lights out ... thanks for all your entertaining viewpoints.

I'm not looking for a slick Hollywood or fairy-tale ending; I've had just about enough "character building" - I'm in danger of becoming a caricature I just want to see some success for all the hard work - I mean.......all those tears!!!!! They must have had huge problems with dehydration ;D - probably had IV's hanging in everyone's dressing room. I'd like to see a thread entitled "TEARS" - just how do those guys do it? We can cry on command (or no command)....do the guys think of dead puppies or just stick pins in the palms of their hand? Oops! Now I'm just babbling.................sorry

I'm with you all the way, CC3. I've never been a "happy ending" sort of person, preferred ambiguous or bittersweet, as it seemed "deeper" and more real-life. But by now, I've had about enough of that--at least, I don't want every story to end like that.
BTW, off-topic, I went to see "Before Sunset" (the sequel to "Before Sunrise") last night, and I found it just a wee bit devastating emotionally. Has anyone here seen it? If not, I haven't given anything away by saying that, I promise. The emotions I speak of have little to do with the plot but more about what is said by the characters about life and their experiences, as the movie takes place 9 years after the first one. It's only what you might expect from characters who are no longer fresh and inexperienced.
In my expectation of the ending of WLS, I could do with a little less contemplation of pain and a little more simple happiness.
P.S. Cannedcats, do you know about the "quote" button when you want to quote someone else in your post? It's right above the message window, the second one from the right. It looks like a piece of paper with an arrow pointing right. Click it and "quote" tags will appear in your message. All you have to do is paste in the text that you've copied from the message you're quoting (paste it in between the tags), and it will appear as your own quoted text does in this message.

Several comments have been made about Yujin's bad hair style... I think her hair is lovely and soft and shiny. Joonsang's hair, on him, is sexy. I think there is a difference between hair and hair style IMO. Her hair style is hideous and not much is going to make me think otherwise, I agree that her hair, however, is rather lovely, in a healthy, squeaky clean, never been processed way.

Yujin's hairstyle makes her look cute and innocent. Compare that to Cherin's hairstyle, which makes her look like a floozy or someone who's trying too hard to look with-it.
