I have a hard time hating him. Why? Oh, I am SO superficial: He is SOOOO CUTE! I just keep thinking of him as the actor rather than the character and so I can't get into thinking he's evil. But for what it's worth, I do agree that Sang-hyuk's behavior is just terrible. In the end, I think he's going to have one of those out-of-character changes of heart that are so common in Korean drama and just end up feeling bad that he's making Yu-jin so miserable. After all, what other ending could there be? He's already got what he wanted, and now all that remains is for him to realize that what he thought he wanted isn't making him happy and to let her go.

At least I wasn't swooning over SH's actor in the first place, because now he makes me sick. Every time I see his smiling mug, I want to punch it because he's so false and duplicitous. Meaning: he's a great actor.
So, hopefully he'll redeem himself by giving up in the end and not putting up a fight. Then he can be somewhat sympathetic and cute again instead of the pretty-boy of crapitude.

But the final straw came when he went to work and his coworker said "Welcome back. Wow, you pulled all of your vacations together. An outsider would have thought that you quit." So it was all a ruse after all! I hate him so much! He's such an evil little twit! Yeah, I find him quite annoying. I think he's more annoying than Cherin. If not for his mom, I think he would be the most annoying character in the drama. His mom gets on my nerves.

Let's not be too harsh with his mom.
At least she is sensible enough to see that Yujin doesn't love her son. Imagine you have a son who's heads over heels in love with a wrong girl - won't you try to stop it, too?
Besides, she didn't resort to any crazy schemes. She continued to advise but was ignored and eventually tried to give in for her son's happiness. She's just typical mother. Strictly speaking one of the envious relationship in WLS is between Sanghyuk and his mother.

Okay, Cherin isn't that annoying because her schemes are pathetic, transparent, and they look like they always fail. In high school, and in life, she's the one who's always thwarted but still thinks she should have her way.
Sanghyuk, on the other hand, is a lot more ruthless, and I can see him getting his way at the expense of everyone else's happiness and yet still being happy about it himself. I guess he doesn't mind that he's apparently been the only one loving in his relationship with Yujin, because he pulled off that elaborate scheme to bring her back.
My opinion on Sanghyuk's mother has changed throughout the drama though. At first I didn't particularly like her because she was rude to Yujin, but once I saw her reasoning for it, I decided that she was a sensible woman. However, she threw that out the window when she brought Yujin back. She knows that Yujin doesn't love her son and that it will cause more trouble later than it would have for them to break up now, and yet advocates for their marriage. She's just wrong, but at least she's not manipulating and evil, like Sanghyuk.
