Yay! the one in LA broadcast the second special WITH English caption! ;D I thought it was nicely done, and I find it very ironic that they would interview Wakizaka's descendant. The Japanese that they interviewed were very opened in telling the history of Imjin War.

Arg! In NJ, they are showing a new series, Farewell to Tears! Is this what's on the block for WMBC viewers?

wah, I live in NJ too
The opening theme is so pansyish compared to the manly opening of the Admiral Yi drama.
gah, I want those specials -_-

We've been robbed. WMBC strikes again. I was all set with the tape, and then this. A whole year of YSS, and we don't get the special? What a rip.

I find it odd that these stations don't coordinate their broadcasts. As someone said before, a lot was removed from the LA broadcast such as Yu Sung Ryong resigning, yet it seems these specials didn't air on all the channels.
I also liked the second special, mainly because of the captions. It was mostly a retrospective of Admiral Yi's victories, though there was a lot of information on how the show's visual effects were created. Oddly, the battle of Pusan is never once referred to.
One thing that I want to know- does anybody know how many ships YSS had in his fleet of Noryang? I don't remember ever hearing that specifically mentioned.

please get your facts straight...... im sorry but did you even thoroughly read the article and the date when this happened......1999? the korean station wasn't taken over by the cult. Cult members from the nearby church raided the station and tried three times but failed to prevent the airing of a news story that supposedly defamed them. Later that night, the korean station re-aired it. Besides, the local korean channels in the STATES decide what gets aired here, not KBS, MBN or SBS.

How odd... too bad for all of u who weren't able to see the second special. Is WMBC another channel or something? cuz i watched YSS on KBS. meh... anyways, a Farewell to Tears?? Is that a historical drama or a modern-day soap opera?? I hope it's a historical drama (tho it doesn't sound like it.)

Regardless whether or not this cult (according to you) is running a local Korean channel (GCN) or **any** korean channel in America for that matter, it has nothing to do with the content of that article. The original poster (maybe it's you) ***implied*** that this cult took over a major Korean channel (MBS) in Korea. But let's say, for argument's sake the cult did take control of MBS. That still doesn't preclude that local Korean programing in America will be affected.

Back on topic:
Is the second special a historical informative type show? When we had a barbeque at the behest of KBS America last summer, they showed us some of a show like that. We asked when that show would be aired, and they told us, "Oh, we just added subtitiles to part of it to show you folks" A chorus of pleas immediately broke out from us: "Oh, PLEASE! You've GOT to show the whole thing with subtitles!!!

Well the first special that was aired yesterday did have subtitles so I'm really hoping the second one also has subtitles.
By the way yesterdays special was pretty cool, they showed how some of the scenes were shot, some of the special effects, they interviewed some of the cast members and even had a swordsmanship contest (which Nalbal won, he is actually a martial arts expert). They also showed when they taped the death of YSS, and when its over the guy playing YSS actually has tears in his eyes, it almost made me cry. When they asked him afterwards how he felt, he said it was sad that YSS had to die like that when he still had so much to do. They also had on the show the guy that always beats on the drums (what the heck is his name). Well they talked about how he lost his son to Leukemia during the filming of YSS, that was very sad too. He actually wrote a book about his son and all the money made from the sales will be donated to a foundation to help children with Leukemia. That bought tears to my eyes, as he was talking about losing his son, and how his son had gone to heaven. Losing a child has to be the hardest thing for a parent.
they also showed some bloopers, where the guys made mistakes on their lines, or they would trip, it was pretty funny. Especially Kim Wan, he is hilarious. oh and they asked which was one of the most used phrases in the series, and the first one that came to my mind was PAMPORA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought another funny of the bloopers was the getting on the horse problem. ANd how many times did the drum get knocked over? Lots!
