*Possible Spoilers* It starts with Yi Soon Shin praying that he would win this battle. The way he prays... I thought he was a Christian or something... Then, it skipped alot of scenes from ep. 4 (Yi Soon Shin's negotiation with Chen Lin, Yu Sung Ryong's resignation, etc.) and went straight to the last battle. Chen Lin compromised with Na Dae Yong, and he takes the Ming navy to Noryang. They fight for a long time. Wakizaka is pissed off at Yi Soon Shin as usual, and Konishi started to panick. Yoshira tried to calm him, but Konishi wanted to press on anyways. Yi Young Nam tries to kill Wakizaka, but ends up severely hurting himself. Yi Soon Shin saves Young Nam, and Young Nam tells him how he always admires him. He then dies while Yi Soon Shin buries him with his armor. Soon Shin then tells everyone to press on, but he is shot. Everyone panicks, but Yi Soon Shin tells them to continue fighting. In the drama series, it showed that they annilhated every Japanese invaders, but not true in real history. Yi Soon Shin hears the cries of victory and dies smiling. In real history, Yi Soon Shin died before the battle ended, not knowing what a hero he was. They didn't say anything about the aftermath of the Imjin War, which was a rip-off.

In NY, they showed Yu Sung Ryong's resignation. After he leaves the council chamber the king says what a great loss it would be to lose YSS and YSR. The Westerners look disturbed. Then the king tells them to go ahead with arresting YSS.
Meanwhile… YSS splits his navy into four and sends two squads led by YSS-homonym and Kim Wan to threaten Konishi’s position.
When Konishi’s nephew tells Wakizaka about the ships going after his uncle, Wakizaka comments that it doesn’t seem like the strategy that YSS would take. But the nephew’s info is convincing and Yoshihiro (where did he come from all of a sudden?) sends Wakizaka fleet to aid Konishi by the Noryang Strait.
It is nighttime and YSS takes his ships quietly up to the straight. He keeps dropping hints that he doesn’t plan to return from this battle. He tells Kwon Jun that he can hear the voices Chosonese who died in the sea during the war. Kwon Jun says that they want the blood of the invaders to be spilled into the sea. YSS says that they want his (YSS's) blood too.
When they get to the straight, YSS reminds his men to be quiet and they all place something in their mouths to prevent them from accidentally making a noise. One of the men, a bald guy, turns to the camera, places a finger on his lips and says " Be vewy vewy quiet ... we're hunting wabbits!" (Maybe I just imagined that.)
When Wakizaka gets to the straight, he has his men shoot their riffles to see if there is any response. One of YSS's men drops something but they don’t hear. When nothing is fired back the Japanese start coming through. YSS tells his men to begin firing. We follow the first cannon ball from the cannon to the mast of a Japanese ship. Wakizaka is upset. Fooled again.
Meanwhile… Konishi tries to take on YSS-homonym and Kim Wan, but it is hopeless. Konishi wants to keep fighting, but Yoshira reminds Konishi that the goal is to get back to Japan safely. Konishi flees the battle. Kim Wan wants to go after him but YSS-homonym says they should go to Noryang Strait to help the admiral.
Wakizaka decides that passing through the straight might not be such a good idea. But here comes YSS-homonym and Kim Wan from the other direction. And then his assistant points out that the Ming navy is joining the fight. (With Lt. Na Dae-Yong as navigator). Konishi tries to flee but is told that the direction that they are heading leads to a port filled with Chosonese soldiers. Wakizaka is pissed. No more mister nice guy. He's going to take out YSS once and for all.
It is getting toward morning. YSS tells Lt. Song to raise the attack flag on the command ship. Song sputters that the command ship shouldn’t spearhead the attack. YSS orders him to do it. The flag is raised and YSS’s ship goes on the attack. We see all of YSS’s commanders watching the command ship with astonished looks on their faces.
Wakizaka orders his command ship to attack and board the YSS's ship. They get close enough to throw over grappling hooks. Yi Young-Nam orders his ship between YSS’s and Wakizaka's. He boards Wakizaka's ship. He gets surrounded by Japanese. He kills a bunch. Wakizaka orders his men to stop fighting Young-Nam and pulls out his own sword. They fight. Wakizaka takes a swing that breaks Young-Nam's sword. (This may have had some symbolic meaning. YSS gave Young-Nam his “Stop the Spear” sword, although there was no reference to the significance of the sword in this episode.)
Wakizaka slashes Young-nam but Young-Nam rushes him. Wakizaka puts his sword through Young-Nam, but Young-Nam pulls them both over the side of the boat. We don't see Wakizaka again. YSS saw the whole fight. He orders his men to retrieve Young-Nam.
YSS is kneeling next to the dying Young-Nam. Young-Nam tells him “Do you know who I fear the most? You. Do you know who I admire the most? You. I wanted to be like you.” After Young-Nam Dies, YSS takes off his own armor and drapes it on Young-Nam.
YSS (in his bright red Admiral robe) beats the big attack drum and the battle continues. He has his men throw straw into the Japanese ship and fire flaming arrows into it. One of the Japanese riflemen spots him and takes aim. YSS sees him. He gets shot. Lt. Song, Nalbal and Yi Wan (YSS’s) nephew run to him. He tells them to keep fighting and not let the men know. Yi Wan puts on YSS’s armor. The fight continues. Lt. Song is able to tell YSS that they have won before YSS dies.
We flash through scenes of YSS's life. Jumping from a cliff as a kid. Running (remember, he used to do that a lot). Taking exams. Leaving with Chun-Su. The academy with Won Kyun. Meeting his wife. Running with Mijin. Fighting Japanese raiders (Wakizaka, of course). His master dying. His mother praying. Binding his broken leg at the military tryout. Fighting the Jurchens. His naval career including his arrest and torture.
The entire navy is in tears. They bow toward the admiral. We see scenes of the admiral with his commanders. Resolving some issue about aristocrats in the military with YSS-homonym (What was that about?) Beating Kim Wan for corruption. Convincing Kwon Jun to come back with 12 ships against 2,000. Telling Na Dae-Yong to get over himself after the first turtle ship sank. Forgiving U Chi-Jeok after Won Kyun lost the fleet.
We see a shot of the sea filled with burning Japanese ships and an Image of YSS superimposed over a battle scene. The End.

the NY version is very different from the LA version... weird... they showed Yu Sung Ryong's resignation? They show YSS flashing back to his childhood years? Neither one of those were shown in the LA version. darn! u guys got more of the fillings!
