This was such a touching episode as YSS was remembering the way he was treated as a traitor by the King, when all he wanted to do was defend his country and his people. Poor YSS the emotional pain he must've suffered being the Commander of the Navy and making choices that not everyone agreed with. I did like the scene where the Emissary is confronted by YSS men and YSS says something like "If by defending our country we are considered traitors, then by God we will be traitors and accept our punishment gladly when we return triumphant." That was powerful, I mean YSS and his men are doing the ultimate sacrifice, practically giving their lives for their country. They will either die on the battlefield or return to the country they saved and be killed by a King who considers them traitors. Amazing! How sad was it when they showed that one guy being killed by Wakizaka, and he is remembering his wife and son before he dies. That was so sad. I started tearing, another man who willingly gave his life for his country I love Yi Young Nam, he was always ready to just go ahead and fight and stand for what is right. I'm almost sure if YSS had wanted to overthrow the government Yi Young Nam would've been right there with him at his right side. I can't believe that next Monday is the last episode

... and how disturbed YSS was when the tie to his cape broke.... an omen? and at the end when he was wraping up his diaries and stated that he hoped nobody would ever have to write such tragedy again.
...and those of us who have the WarDiary/Memorials ... didn't we feel very connected to this scene?
I know Alexa... the final episode...how stunning that will be.

Very moving moments (like all the many before): When YSS grabbed his soldiers and asked who they lost and how to show the emissary what is really happening during the war. The speech before the battle. Remebering the past torture when he was looking at the King's death pardon (and burning it).
You can just tell that he was not planning on coming out of this battle alive. At least that is how his words and manners seemed to me from this drama and this particular episode. How he told the emissary to protect this men after this battle so they are not charged with treason. Wrapping up his diaries. The "omen" of the armor strap breaking. Burning the death pardon from the king.
The guy being killed by Wakizaka seemed at first he saw the death of his wife and child but when he was dying it looked more like a "Gladiator" moment. He saw his wife and child and was meeting them on the other side. Did anyone else get that out of that scene? I recorded it so I have to watch that part over again.

guy being killed by Wakizaka seemed at first he saw the death of his wife and child but when he was dying it looked more like a "Gladiator" moment I love the movie Gladiator. anyways whatever it was, it made me cry. He was the one of thousands and thousands who lost family, children, all because one man's desire for power (Japanese guy.) The desire for power will make people do the unthinkable. That is what makes me so sad, that even to this day, things like that are still going on. Anyways I was just so touched by that scene, the guy knew that if he went to the Japanese camp he wouldn't come out of there alive, and yet he was willing to give his own life. Dying can be an easy thing, but can men take the torture? The poor guy was practically beaten to death and yet he stood firm and didn't give in. It was so sad right before they killed him and even his last words were, LONG LIVE CHOSUN LONG LIVE CHOSUN, HAIL THE ADMIRABLE, HAIL THE ADMIRABLE. What a courageous man. I'm such a wuss I feel tears in my eyes right now, must remain calm since I'm wearing mascara and its not waterproof. I think YSS had a feeling he wasn't going to come back alive. Things he said and did, gave me the impression that somehow he knew this is it, the last battle, my last battle, this is where I give my life. Its so sad And it wasn't just YSS, it was his commanders, all the soldiers, the oarsmen, the archers, everybody, putting their lives on the line for their people and their country. All the them willing to be accused of treason rather then let the Japanese get away with what they did. And what King in his right mind would let the Japanese get away! They murdered and tortured people, raped women, burned down villages, killed children, how can they just let them go! What makes me so angry is Konishi, he is trying so hard to get out of Chosun, and hates YSS so much, but hey who was the one to invade the country? YSS was minding his own business, doing his job, and the Japanese decide to invade, and now Konishi is filled with hatred and anger. What did he expect? Does he really expect for everything to end peacefully after everything that happened? Even he as a warrior should know better. If he was in YSS shoes what would he do?

My favorite scene from Ep. 103 Admiral : Truth is more powerful than you think. Young-nam : The world is not so clear as you believe. Admiral : Do you want to throw a stone at the world? Young-nam : I want to change the world. Admiral : Throw a stone at the muddy stream, and the water will get muddier. Young-nam : ....... Admiral : Don't try to change the world only with rage and youth vigor. If a general acts like that, his men will have to aim their spears at their people. Young-nam : But... Admiral : Keep in mind. The only duty we soldiers have to do is to stop the enemy's spear threatening our country. Sorry for my poor translation. ;D I love this scene. It was not in the Ep. 1~5. (Newly added) It makes me realize how YSS has been changed so much since his youth. In the past, like today's Young-nam, YSS was a young man in full vigor to change the world. And now... I guess YSS is reminding Young-nam of his youthful days. It was a very impressive scene to me.

in episode 93. When few soldiers are left to pick themselves up and dust themselves off after being attacked. When Yi becomes superior commander again. When everyone shouts with Yi's words of encouragement

I guess we get the last one in NY on Saturday. It's just about one year since this started, so it seems extra weird watching these episodes again at similar calendar dates. At least now, I know who everyone is, and I understand the action. While I know I'll be sad when the end passes, I am glad that every Saturday and Sunday night I won't be tied up. It's better for you folks who can watch on a weekday. The next series, I'll tune in now and then, but I only missed 1 1/2 episodes of YSS all year, and I just can't do that schedule again. I wish WMBC could run historical dramas on weeknights. I wish I could join you all at the get together, but I won't be out to Chicago until next year, so I'll have to miss out. The YSS show has been an inspiring run, but I will be glad to see the last of the King. He is dead weight in this whole thing.

Does he really expect for everything to end peacefully after everything that happened? Even he as a warrior should know better. If he was in YSS shoes what would he do? haha, Admiral Yi wasn't going to have a cup of tea and watch the Japanese float away. That would be so rude!...Admiral Yi had planned a special farewell party just for the Japanese anyway.. Admiral Yi went out there to die. How depressed and forlorn he must have been to kill himself...he was born at the right yet at the same time, horrible time....he was alone in his ambitions. He lost so many of his loved ones including his men. He knew only absolute loyalty and love for the people, but the king never acknoledged his patriotism.. sigh. What makes me angry is that he didn't get to kill Wakizaka or Konishi, and that good men like Minister Yu resigned and Admiral Yi died while King Sunjo got to live. I think that was a bit of karma though; Sunjo had to live through all the people mourning and grieving over Admiral Yi and his heroic sacrifice during his last glorious victory. [repaired quote-Bo]
