The visual summary of ep. 78 :
The Battle of BusanIt was
Nalbal and
Young-nam who hampered the Todo Takatora's ambush.
Todo failed to attack YSS's fleet and withdrew from the front.
While YSS's fleet was sailing toward the
Busan port,
Ming Chinese envoy
Shen Weijing (Shim Yu-gyoung) had arrived at the King Sun-jo's place.
Ming China finally realized that the Japanese forces are much stronger that they thought.
So, they sent merchant-turned-general Shen Weijing to negotiate with the Japanese before Hideyoshi invaded into Ming China via Chosun.
Shen Weijing met with
Konishi Yukinaga in the Pyoung-yang castle.
Yu Sung-ryong already knew that Ming China did not want to fight with Japan for Chosun.
But anyway, both Chosun and Japan needed time to prepare for the future battles.
That's why Japan and Chosun accepted Shen's negotiation plan.
However, Shen and Konishi were going to carry out an unheard-of international fraud together.
Meanwhile, YSS kept sailing toward Busan although his fleet was fighting with bad weather.
He said "Our purpose is not to occupy Busan but to destroy the enemy's warships as many as possible.
If we win the battle of Busan, it will cause fear for them as well as confidence for us"
Finally, the battle of Busan began on September 2nd, 1592 (of the lunar calendar).
While YSS's fleet made a "Snake" formation near the Busan port,
the Japanese forces did not leave the port and fired guns from the land.
YSS was definitely in a disadvantageous position.
Suddenly, Won Kyun's ship was swept away by swift currents.
Chung-wun made a decision to save him, and told YSS through the expression in his eyes.
YSS gave an affirmative nod to Chung Wun.
However, a cannon ball from the Japanese side landed on Chun Wun's ship.
One old man was standing before the generals who retrurned to the Left Cholla Naval base.
He was Chung Wun's father. He heard of his son's death and came to take his body.
Chung Wun's father did not show his tears at all.
But when he saw the sea which his son tried to save, he finally bursted into tears.
The next day, Chung Wun's body was sent to his hometown by his father.
Kim Wan bursted into tears holding his best friend's coffin.
Although King Sun-jo did not give him a vassal of merit after the 7-year war,
Korean people still remember him as a hero to save the country.
The Submarine named after "Chung Wun"
The monument for Chung Wun is still overlooking the sea which he tried to save.
(It is located in the city of Busan)
The day he died is Busan citizen's day. (not national holiday)
