How about a PBS thread? We had some mention on another thread of PBS shows and now I can't remeber where it is. So.... A new reality show on PBS started in Chicago on CH. 11 last night. cooking under fire I watched it and I think I'll watch the whole series.

I saw the commercials for that too. I haven't gotten a chance to tune in though. My favorite PBS shows are Globe Trekker, Find!, American Experience documentaries, and I like those 50s and 60s movies/musicals they sometimes air on Saturdays.
I know I like some other ones but I can't remember.
Ohhh. I like those Nightly Business News Briefs because Paul Kangas takes up almost the whole screen. That guy has some HUGE shoulders!

Can't forget Keeping Up Appearances. I like watching some of their home repair shows too. Abe Norman from the New Yankee Workshop makes some really nice things.

I like most of the ones you mention. I sometimes watch cooking shows, but not too often. Can't forget Keeping Up Appearances. I like watching some of their home repair shows too. Abe Norman from the New Yankee Workshop makes some really nice things.

Gal-ck, how the hell did you do that last post? I must be contagious.
As for PBS, I really prefer Channel 20 to WTTW. It seems more like good, old-fashioned public TV. I particularly like the "classroom" shows. Also, they show the old Miss Marples, Maigrets and Rumpoles and I like those. I think, with the exception of Check Please and The McLaughlin Group, WTTW is just too flashy and has too many banal "musicales" and hyperactive self-improvement gurus--pledge weeks are hellish.

Bo WTTW also has the Chicago series with Geoffrey Baer. Those are really informative. I like both stations for different shows. Does anyone else NOT get channel 56? I can't get that station in for anything. That IS another PBS station isn't it? I see the listing in the guide but In just get fuzz. I forgot I also watch Sagwa the Chinese siamese cat on Sunday.

Bo I think I hit quote instead of modify. I am just so tired. I didn't even notice. I'm w/Chigirl. I like both. I get 56 but it's really fuzzy. I have to manually punch in 56 though, if I just go with the Channel up or down feature, it skips right through it. There are sometimes these 70s looking variety hour shows. They look funny but for all the wrong reasons. I HATED pledge weeks as a kid. Always interrupting Sesame street and Mr. Rogers.

I like watching Globe Trekker, Caillou, Arthur, Mr. Rogers, Angelina Ballerina, Sagwa, Dragon Tales, and a few others. I can't seem to recall them at the moment. I mostly watch the cartoons because I love them!

Oh I used to LOVE watching Mr. Bean on channel 11. It would come out on Saturday nights, and I would catch it if I was home. I thought he was just hilarious, even though he never talked. Now I don't have alot of free time to watch tv But I do like to watch historical documentaries and anything that has to do with animals (whenever I can). About 2 weeks ago, I saw a show that was talking about the jungle and all these weird species that we've never heard of or seen. There is so much out there in this world that we don't know about.

I was a huge fan of WYCC ch20 back when they showed all those educational shows in prime time, especially "The Mechanical World" (physics), "Against All Odds" (statistics), and a show about Greece, and one about learning Russian. You know, once you get past the alienness of Cyrillic, you recognize the same Greek and Latin roots you see in any European language. . .
But then they got themselves into this classic film mode, but they only had like two films that they showed over and over again, Thus, my sister refered to ch20 as "The Inspector General" channel.

i like many of the documentaries, but the only thing i watch regularly are the brit-coms "keeping up appearances" (you have no idea how closely hyacinth resembles my mother in regards to the house-cleaning, etc ;D) and "as time goes by". the latter stars the incomparable judi dench, and the story delights the romantic in me.

Masterpiece Theatre! I love Masterpiece Theatre and buy all the classic novel/ 19th century English ones on DVDs afterwards. Did anyone watch the Liberty Kids cartoons about the Revolutionary War? (if you get some of the same shows as NY)
