Hi, all, I'm back from my vacation and I'm happy to see we're having lively discussions, even if you are mostly trashing that charming, handsome scoundrel Eric and his high-toned performance. Thanks, knov1 and galacticchick, for stepping up here. Maybe I'll retire. Nah. Hey, I only caught the last 15 minutes of Saturday night's episode (today), and there's an American. Who is he? I thought he was a psychiatrist, from how he and Ji-eun were talking, but then there was that scene about the documents he wanted her to translate and then she was allowed to escape from his doctorly clutches and I got all confused (not as confused as when I was trying to understand them by reading the Korean subtitles). And wasn't Ji-eun's English cute? "I fine now." They ought to get Choko on there, she could give them some English. Lemme see, if Eric was a rice farmer with brick-broken teeth getting rice containing his lovely wife from his daughter, would he be more attractive or merely a rice farmer with brick-broken teeth and paranoid delusions of women in his rice... Hey Bo.......Welcome back from your vacation. Hope you had lots of fun. Anyway, that American gentlemen is a prospective investor for the Seolin Co. He and some others were invited by SH and Eric's Dad to Jeju Island for R&R. But the part where Ji-eun said, "I am fine." Refers to an accident the day before. SH, Eric, two American investors, MR and Ji-eun went for a boat ride. Ji-eun was the maid assigned to this trip. On the boat ride an accident happened when Ji-eun fell in the water and she can't swim. So SH & Eric both jump in after her. To make a long story short, SH gets to her first and brings her up, but Eric pushes him away, and Ji-eun wakes to see Erick and not SH. So that's why the gentlemen asked her if she is alright. Now for the documents, it was actually a test of her loyalty. That gentlemen asked her if she could translate the documents written in Korean to him in English; but Ji-eun tells him, "I'm sorry sir, but I don't think I should tell you what this says since it is about my employer and I am hired by him." The investor says, "Thank you very much for your honesty. I already know what this says, but I wanted to see where your loyalties lie." Or something to that matter. He wants to use her as a representative for his company, if he decides to invest in Seolin Group, because he knows she will be hardworking and honest. I hope that helps fill in the gaps a little.

Hi, Bo! We missed you! Glad you're back. Funny you should mention the American man. We think that in real life, he must have just been someone off the street or a crew hand from a B movie or some honcho's brother-in-law or something, because he definitely couldn't have been an actor! He robotically said his lines like it was the first time he'd ever said anything on camera! He just sounded emotionless and flat. Did anyone else think that seemed odd? Especially when he said to Ji-Eun that she dressed "trendy". Oh, brother. More comic relief!

My gosh, Winterballad, I laughed a lot when I read your little exegesis of the action, because I think you are remembering their lines writed muchmore betterly good (lol) than they actually were. Flowerlady is right on with the analysis of the American's abilities. Thanks, you two.
It's interesting that he wants to use the maid (er, helper lady) to represent his company! Those Americans.

You all are funny. Welcome back, Bo. Yes, the American sounded weird, but I think it's made more obvious by his sticking out like a sore thumb. We're so used to hearing the sounds and cadences of Korean on these shows that American English just sounds kind of flat. Though I agree his delivery was wooden, too.
Hey, now, who here saw the previews of the next episode? Did you hear Will speaking English? Did you hear his AMERICAN ACCENT? What's the deal!?
