Ji-eun's friend, that is. I just noticed something interesting over on the page for this show at Koreanwiz. The actress who plays her, Lee Yoo Jin, has the same name as the listed screenwriter. I wonder if they are the same person!

I tried digging around for it, but could not find it (funny because the forum is not that full yet). I seem to recall someone talking about the name similarity and, I think, they said she was not the same person. Maybe it was in one of the news articles.

It's not in the forums (fora), but on the main "Phoenix" page she created. Sorry I don't have the URL handy.

I'm assuming you mean KoreaWiz page... here's the link www.koreanwiz.org/at/drama-phoenix.htmlAnd this is the "factoid" at the bottom of the page. Factoid: The screenwriter for this drama and the actress who plays Bok-ja have the same name in real life: Lee Yoo Jin. The wording makes me "assume" they are two different people. Melissa

The first time I saw this actress was in Beautiful Days. I was intrigued by her looks as I thought she was very pretty and obviously of mixed races. This is common in Hawaii where I have lived all of my life, and I think makes for very attractive looking people.

I think this character is so beautiful! She looks really cool. Did anybody watch the show called "Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy"? Well, there was this one girl who's father is Japanese and mother is Caucasian. She looks totally cool. I just think that people who have a mixed background are awesome. Anyway, back to Bok-ja! ;D I love the scenes with her and her younger guy friend (I forgot his name!). Their scenes together are so hilarious! Like the puppy scene in the park. It was so funny!

I was watching the re-run yesterday and that was a very cute puppy, no wonder she was crazy about it.
The "slave-boy's" (Bok-ja's term, not mine) name is Yuh. I think she'd make a really nice couple w/Se-hoon's friend, I can't remember his name, the one she was so glad to see. Wasn't that scene w/the men in the bathroom hilarious? Especially when Yuh was comparing his "goods" to the guy's?

I liked the "bathroom scene" too--it was very funny. She would be better off with the lawyer than that goofball.
This seems to be picking up for me. I like it better.

We like the Bok-ja character. She & Yuh provide needed comic relief (something like Mr. & Mrs. Gaung did in Dae J-G). Anyway, Bok-ja seems to be someone who is actually fairly sensible and level-headed. We are hoping that she will help facilitate getting Will & Ji-Eun back together, ultimately. I agree that Bok-Ja & the lawyer (with the glasses) would make a good couple. He has long been a loyal friend of Will who really looks out for him, too.

As of Saturday's episode, it appears that Bok-ja has left for Australia, much to the dismay of the lawyer and the funny guy who had the 10-year crush on her. I'm not sure if her role on this series has ended now or not.

I noticed yesterday on "My Happy Family/My Precious Child" that they used a word several times that sounded like "Bok-ja." I can't remember what it meant--hungry? let's eat? Clearly I have no memory. All I know is it was in the kitchen scene when ESM and Jin-soo were eating pizza, and ESM asked Hee-soo to fetch plates. If Michael is reading this, or if anyone here speaks Korean, can you enlighten me? I'm posting this over on the MPC board as well.
Thanks, Lucy

Thanks, Lucy Lucy, I think it might be "muk-ja" (casual imperative) for "Let's eat." You guessed it right!

I'm curious as to whether anyone would know what the name "Bok-ja" means? I'd never heard the name before I started watching the Phoenix. Thanks!

Thanks, Michael! On MPC, the evil stepmom (ESM) was teaching her son to say, "Let's eat pizza" rather than just "Let's eat"--"Pizza muk-ja." Thanks!
