I didn't see all of it, missed the first 15 minutes. It seemed interesting. However, I find that the first few episodes don't really catch my interest and I have to make myself watch it. I think its only because I miss the characters on the prior drama that I am reluctant to want to be a part of the next group but after a couple of episodes I become hooked.
However if I had to choose between modern or historical, I'd lean towards historical simply because I absolutely love the costumes, especially womens costumes, hair, makeup, jewelry. That is all fascinating to me. I am tempted in making a Jang Geum doll for myself. Just need to get the fabrics for her.

Well this isn't your typical drama. First eps and we have one of the lead females throwing herself at the male lead and swapping spit already. This should be interesting. At this rate they should be between the sheets by eps 3. What da think? ;D

Even though the first episode had quite a bit going on I still found it a bit dull. I'm sure the drama will pick up and get better as it goes along. Lee Suh Jin is one of my favorite actors so I'll keep watching.

I really prefer the historical dramas, so was a bit disappointed, but I watched all of it. Wish for something similar to Jang Geum

Tonight was the last episode we're going to watch. I haven't been this irritated by a Korean drama since we tried to watch Wife! Lee Ji-Eun is very pretty, but she's the antithesis of Jang-geum, who's my favorite Korean drama character after Wang Guhn. I appreciate that Soju posted a synopsis in the "Welcome to Firebird" thread - it's obvious that the show's not going to get better, but at least we won't waste 26 hours on it now.
I hated the trapping someone into marriage by getting pregnant element to the show too - it's been done before, but never well. What a surprise that she becomes dissatisfied. What follows is either going to be predictable or contrived, that's pretty clear already.
The Great Jang-geum was such a wonderful show that it would take something very special to follow it. We gave Phoenix a chance, but it doesn't fly(forgive the pun!)

Tonight was the last episode we're going to watch. I haven't been this irritated by a Korean drama since we tried to watch Wife! It's funny Ken brought up "Wife," because there is a certain similarity between the main male character in that drama and in Firebird. They are both stoic, mysterious men who refuse to defend themselves. They both act in ways seemingly antithetical to their own interests. And their heads are shaped the same. Oh, I guess that's not important... Bo

Hey JP--I think you need another category in poll--i.e "I'll keep watching because I'm devoted to Korean shows and there's nothing on Western TV" ;D
So far the characters are pretty one dimensional for me (but they make up for it in racy behavior, right?...kissing and nudity in the first two episodes whoooeee!!!)
But we'll just have to see....

Wife was pretty bad (I stopped watching after the second episode) but I will be satisfied as long as it doesn't have one of those Bodyguard-type endings.
I was neither impressed (except for when the dad walked in on them) nor repulsed, so I guess I might keep watching.

Wow, nudity! I missed the first 20 minutes of eppie #2, so I came in on the angry scene where Boyfriend says he'll take responsibility and marry her. I thought it was because she was pregnant (was she?), never dreaming Abuji had walked in on them doing the deed.
That girl is no daffodil, I can tell you that!

However, I find that the first few episodes don't really catch my interest and I have to make myself watch it. I think its only because I miss the characters on the prior drama that I am reluctant to want to be a part of the next group but after a couple of episodes I become hooked. I feel the same way! Some dramas are like coffee: the very first time you taste it it's so horrible you wonder how anyone can stand the stuff, but soon enough you're hopelessly addicted. It was so nice to see someone called a "gijibae" again! And I learned a new phrase: King Card. So much fun! Thanks, Michael!! I don't blame you, Ken, for abandoning this show, it is so different from Jang-geum. It's different from any drama I've ever seen! Never have I seen a guy act so disrespectfully towards an elder, especially his future father-in-law! The way that guy (I don't remember his name, the lead character) grabbed Ji-eun and tore her away from her dad and just left (after they told the folks she was pregnant) seemed very disrespectful. And seeing the two of them in bed was out of the ordinary. (Was she lighting oversized birthday candles during the seduction scene?! ) Sounds more like something on SBS! I voted "OK," I'm not sure if this show will hook me enough to remember to watch. I'm hoping that Jae-hee from To be with You will kick things up a notch. I just have to give this drama some time.

thanks for all the info especially that it's only 26 episodes... I was less than thrilled with the first episode... but thanks to some of your comments I'll give it another chance. On a scale of 1-5 (5 = best), I gave it a 1.
