We've reached Ep. 150 in Philadelphia. As everyone knows, Philly is the last market to view Age Of Warriors. Now that all of us have seen most of the series, I think it's time that we give give out the awards. Hopefully we will vote in several categories (if a few people still check the AOW Tangents page every once in a while : . Most awards ceremonies start with the small awards and work their way to the big ones. I have chosen to do the opposite (in part because I don't know if anyone cares anymore). Oh, and by the way, feel free to correct me if you feel I've made mistakes by commission or omission in my selection of nominees. The "Age of Warriors" Best Actor Award...

Hey, where's Yi Ui Min, Kyung Dae Sung, and Yi Ko?
I voted for Chun Kyun. Sure Yi Ui Bang, Yi Ui Min, Chung Bu, and Choi Choong Hon were fantastic characters, but there was nobody who played their role more better than Lee Min Woo (Chun Kyun). That guy made me so pissed that my girl used to just laugh at me. When he was killed I jumped for joy like you wouldn't believe. Kudos to Lee Min Woo.

Well Skinz, I was only allowed eight nominees.
I was dissappointed myself at not being able to include them.
If you feel that those three belong on a ballot of eight actors from AOW, who would you remove from the current list?

If you feel that those three belong on a ballot of eight actors from AOW, who would you remove from the current list? Mmmm...... I would take out the Muby and put Yi Ui Min and take the young emperor out and put KDS in. Take out Moon Kuk Kyum and put in emperor Myong Jong. Yi Ui Min should be in there because we got to know the story of the character more than the rest. And he had his own arc of the overall storyline so he's very important. KDS also had an arc for himself so he should be in there also. Emperor Myong Jong should be there because he was the first figure to feel the sudden change in the system. The way his character managed to keep his reign for a long time (until Choi Choong Hon went berserk) should also be noted. Although the actress who played Muby was great on the villianous part, her range on the emotional part couldn't reached the audience because: 1: we hardly knew her past so there was no sorrow for her downfall 2: She was cast as a filler to Yi Ui Bang downfall. (and you know we all loved Yi Ui Bang)

(and you know we all loved Yi Ui Bang) Great points on all of them. I see what you're saying about Muby. She didn't do much besides play the villain. I must admit, I'm not a huge fan of the way Minister Moon was played, however I did feel he was approaching par with the other nominees. I suppose the Young Emperor is fresh in my mind. We just saw the episode in which he summoned Jin Jae and then pretended to mediate reconciliation between Jin Jae and CCH under the pretext of intoxication. I really liked the scene, and I must admit that I was probably swayed by it. I struggled more with not nominating the Archfiend and KDS, than I did with Yi Ko. I guess I see Yi Ko as a cool and fun character, but not to complex. He was defiant and formidable, that's about it. As far as Myung Jong goes... I definitely agree with you that he is a more significant character than many of the nominees, but the acting out of his part wasn't particularly moving for me.

Ahh...
That was my debate as well Eowyn. It took me a while before I finally voted.
Although I agree with Skinz about Chung Kyun as well. Lee Min Woo was masterful in making the audience despise him.
To me, the storyline was most enthralling when Yi Ui Bang was at the forefront. I've enjoyed the rest of the series, however, I haven't been able to keep myself from wishing that his character was still around.

I am really beginning to appreciate Choi Choong Hon's acting, even though I don't like the character. I think KDS should also be on the list. He didn't have to say anything to be expressive. I particularly remember one scene where, having earlier been informed that his medicine was poisoned, he is shown just staring at the potion, and then finally drinking it.

I finally voted for Kim Gap-soo (CCH). I couldn't help it! I think he's a masterful actor.
I agree with what you said about the Young Emperor, seven stars. I thought him to be a fine actor as well.

If I could change it, I probably would remove Minister Moon and add KDS. He was the one character I regret leaving out the most. Yi Ui Min to a lesser degree because the character was less diverse than KDS. Archfiend is synonymous with toughguy. So when he was in love, he was "toughguy in love," when he was sad, he was "sad toughguy." You get the drift. I finally voted for Kim Gap-soo (CCH). I couldn't help it! I think he's a masterful actor. I agree with what you said about the Young Emperor, seven stars. I thought him to be a fine actor as well. An excellent choice Eowyn!

I am fairly new to AOW......I found it at about Episode #120 or so..........in the Phila market..........We are extremely close to the end now so I called WYBE-TV in Phila to see what their plans were........They had not finalized their plans yet but said they were thinking about starting it over again..............For me that's great since I've missed most of it and have had a hard time getting everything straight. Anyway, I voted for CCH as best actor because I think I know (understand) him best but also he seems to express his feelings convincingly with facial expression alone when the script calls for it...........Although his expressions of fear need a little work..........For example in the dream he had that Jin-Jae had come to kill him his fear seemed a bit unconvincing.........Maybe because he doesn't seem like a character like his would even have any fear!!!!! Jin-Jae is also a very good expressionist.....in my view. I can't go without mentioning my infacuation with Mother Lotus.....I suppose her acting is good enough but I think she is absolutely beautiful. ..........spell-binding, infacuating. ;D................I guess you get the picture.............. Thanks for the vote John (letterman)! I agree that Kim Gap Soo is an awesome actor, especially when it comes to non-verbal acting/communication. And Choi Choong Hon was a masterful performance. Let me encourage you to contact Betz if you get the opportunity John. She's the unofficial coordinator of the Philly K-Drama fanclub. (Unofficial because the fanclub itself is also kind of unofficial. )
