Well, I think we saw that DEEP love stuff X2. Can't get any deeper than the MEAL for a man, and it is complicated as Palace responsibilityand all the stuff they have to live.
If it was not for the ENDING and crazy Choi that would have been the episode peak. I think Lady Choi is on heroin.

Seems more like obsession to me, since she doesn't really know him that well other than from childhood and its unrequited. I think it's nothing compared to the deep bond of trust between Gen. Min and JG! Then again, it's not like she could have developed a mature attitude toward love since she's basically forced to be alone unless she's noticed by the king.
But I have two questions about that scene:
1) did he eat the food? They don't show us, and
2) why the heck did he run after her?
And which Lady Choi are you referring to w/the heroine comment? The elder?
Cheers,

Surely ate some food.
It sank in LATER she was to kill herself. END IT ALL.
I am talking out OLD Lady Choi as the end of the episode to the chiel Enuich (useless ones).

Thank you RichardD and Catalpa in asking and answering the question regarding the meal between Lady Choi & Sir Min. I was upset that they did not show if he eat anything from the table.
I was confused to see him run after her. I too, missed the hint of the possiblity that now Lady Choi would kill herself.
My question is now that Jang Geum has been told to leave Sir Min alone, how will she react to knowledge of the meal between Sir Min and Lady Choi? I am sure Choi family will make sure she hears of it.
Thanks again. I enjoy reading the board.

I think the Sir Min character is portrayed in a super-sympathetic light. Although we know his heart belongs to Janggeum (who wouldn't, as the underdog she brings out his protective instincts), yet this is a man who is not about to totally brush off the other woman, Choi jr, just because he can't return her feelings.

After rewatching my tape, I can understand how it might be inferred that he thought she would "end it all" by offing herself. HOWEVER, given that she told the elder Lady Choi to "do what she willed" I think she means Sir Min is up for grabs now and she no longer cares if they spare him.
Maybe she was intending to kill herself, but it seems as if maybe she's had a change of heart? Of course, it's hard to tell with all the inuendos that I just don't "get" not speaking Korean.

I guess Korean culture is very similar to Indian culture as well; where if u accept a meal invitation is what it counts. Whether u eat little or pig out, it doesnt matter. Of course, nowadays everyone pigs out

Of course, nowadays everyone pigs out Most Eastern and Asian cultures are similar in that regard: whether you're Indian, Korean, Chinese, or Arabic. It's all about extending hospitality and receiving it graciously. In many ways it's basically how the society functions.

Hi, I'm coming late to this discussion, but in my opinion she clearly intended to commit suicide or, secondarily, wanted to give that impression. Something she said or did at least led Sir Min to believe that, because he was shown thinking over what passed between them and then running out to look for her, presumably (I thought) to stop her.
My suspicion was that she was really intending to poison him, but that's probably just because I'm relatively new to the series and don't know the characters as well as most people here.
