Thanks Jenny and Soju for telling me what the EA said to Hyran at the end. I took what she said as something very positive from her end. How could anyone expects her to admit that she is wrong. This is a good end after all.

Your welcome!
I figured out the Tae-il/liver disease mystery!
It's Kdrama 101: At least one character in every drama must have a fatal disease!!!
In Yellow Handkerchief it was Sang-min, in To Be With You it was Moon-hee's step-mom, in So This is love it was (spoiler space for our friends in Philly) * * * * * * * * * Young-ah's (the dance instructor) dad, etc., etc. Since no one else was ill, except for the cancer scare with Soon-young and Granny always threatening her death, they had to infect someone by the end!

I think Jade's assessment is pretty close to mine. I thought the drama turned out better than it started. The only part that really did not interest me was the "young love" thread, which never really grabs me, anyway. I lost interest toward the middle, but the last 10-15 episodes were very, very good. Although the circumstances of discovering Tae-il's illness were highly unrealistic, I thought it was a refreshing change from the usual "cancer" device. It seemed to fulfill some karmic destiny for him, made him totally realize how fortunate a man he really was. I am not very familiar with liver disease, but I have known people who died from it (alcoholism or viral illness) and people who, against all odds, recovered. So it was ambiguous, too--he isn't necessarily a dead man. (But he'd probably have a better chance if he'd retained his kidney, hmmm?) Oh, by the way--I like ambiguity. Another thing about Aunt Rainbow--when Hye-ran told Hyung-kyu what AR said to her, he seemed--underwhelmed. Here he's been begging for her forgiveness for months, and he's got good wishes from her, and he can only say, "She really said that?" Please. And a thought occurred to me. We've been trashing Hye-ran's limited acting all this time, when Hyung-kyu's hasn't been that hot, either. Maybe they were well matched. Min-jae would have made a meal out of that scene, without saying a word. I do wish they'd made some reference to the roses at the end, just to tie it up; why didn't Hyung-kyu present HR with roses and make a speech about it when he found out about the baby? That seemed like a glaring error to me. The ending with Tae-ho and Soon-ok seemed appropriate for their characters. They'll probably be waffling for years--do we really want to see that? And I don't need to have two characters deliver their babies so I can know what happens 9 months after you get pregnant or that they'd be happy about it. Here's an idea for a sequel--Kang Hee-in, daughter of Kang Min-jae, and Oh Young-in, son of Oh Hyung-kyu, who grew up as cousins, suddenly find themselves falling in love and feel really really guilty until they realize they are not biologically related in any way... Kwi-boon, who is 88 and hanging on until "Hee-in goes to school/marries/has my great-great grandchild..." (depending on how good a day she's having) goes on a hunger strike for the 10,000th time and finally kills herself, pounding her chest and sighing, "Aigu! Aigu!" as she breathes her last... Oh, I must amuse myself, since no one is probably reading this anyway. Finally, I think you all are overlooking one thing about the family photo ending. Although this may be a common device, it also had deep connections to what had happened in this particular drama. Everyone in this family strongly desired a family portrait, but Grannie always torpedoed it. Also, from what I've seen in these dramas, family photographs are very important to Korean families, almost as important as wedding photos. So, for them to finally get to take that family photo resonated for the drama. I liked it as the ending. Bo
