I thought Kyung-Tak trying to talk in english was hilarious. What's funny too is that he told Yujin 'you thought you had me fooled' and asked her 'you're amercian aren't you?'. The actress that plays Yujin actually is Korean American. I don't know if they had her purposely speak with more of an accent because she can talk in englsih much better than that.

I figured she spent some time here. I really liked Kyung-tak's dumbfounded reaction whene she switched to English.

I barely caught up with this episode yesterday and I was waiting for the scene you all are talking about...hilarious! So Yu-jin is Korean American, huh? How do you know? I also thought it was too funny when he was telling her, "see I can speak like native" when in reality it sounded like he was chocking on something. The only word he seems to pronounce pretty well is "Bodyguard". He's always telling Na-young, "watch your pronunciation". LOL! I shouldn't be so harsh, I can't even seem to pronounce "thank you" properly.

I just found this article, it was posted on the Hawaii fan board. Some Korean parents are taking drastic measures to make sure their children can speak English without an accent! www.msnbc.com/news/981625.asp?cp1=1#BODY. It's kinda icky, to say the least! Ouch!

It's terribly icky -- and terribly stupid, too. Most of the American-born children of Asian immigrants I know speak flawless English. It's NOT a biological thing. I'm not that familiar with the Korean situation, but I know that in Japan, the instructors who teach English over there usually speak awful English themselves. No wonder those kids never learn it right. Korean parents should forget about this ghastly surgery and send their (young) kids to America for a while. Young kids pick up foreign languages like it was nothing. Sure wish it was like that for us grown ups.

So Yu-jin is Korean American, huh? How do you know? Well I'm not sure how I found that out but I also do know that her boyfriend, who's a member a Korean group, is also Korean Amercian. There's actually quite a bit of celebrities in Korea who are from the US (mostly singers though). There's an agency in the US called Brothers Ent. that scouts for 'talent' to bring over to Korea. That's how a lot of them are discovered. Sorry to get off topic. Getting into all of that probably requires a separate thread. Let's just say that there are some entertainment companies in Korea that have realized, faster than others, that there's a market outside of Korea (and Asia) and that it would benefit them if the celebrities (singers, actors, etc.) they represent speak english.
