THREAD UNDER REPAIR... - Bo
Hey. I notice you are able to put URLs into little, descriptive phrases (like, "clicky here" or "restaurant review"), instead of long addresses that make the page too wide for my computer screen.
How are you doing that? I sure could use that info, and I'm sure others would like to know.
Thanks!
Bo

it's an easy UBB code. I like it because you don't hav those reallllyyy long links. Anyway.
it goes like this (bear in mind I need to put spaces in to not make the UBB work)
[ url= type or copy/paste url here] write what you want text to look like [ / url ]
Remember "no spaces"

I use it all the time. If you put it on your browser's toolbar it will automatically generate a Tiny URL for the page you are looking at. tinyurl.com/

Hey Chigirl and ducky, thanks for the information and I'm sure Bo will be happy to see me taking up less space Actually ducky, I can't see how to make the tiny one say what I want when I go to the website and enter the original url.

Actually ducky, I can't see how to make the tiny one say what I want when I go to the website and enter the original url. With Chigirl's you can make it say anything you want-- Tiny url just makes it shorter, I use it when [ url= type or copy/paste url here] write what you want text to look like [ / url ] doesn't work, like with G-mail. Anybody know how to do the same thing with Gmail? ?

Thanks ducky, I'll keep it written nearby til it gets memorized. Now, the next question is where are you having your avatars hosted? Are you worried that a third party host might be sending information about you based on the use of the avatar? Am I being way too paranoid?

I signed up for a free account with photobucket.com, after you have an account there you can submit any picture, photo, avatar, or document to your account. I like it because they automatically give you an for adding pictures to text, And a url=http//:, so you can use it as as avatar. As for third parties knowing what I'm doing, I feel the same way about that as I do about the President's terrorist surveillance program,--(That's domestic spy program for any Democrats reading this)--- The people who are doing something wrong are the only ones who have anything to worry about. You never know they might be reading this right now......
