That was the most depressing thing I have ever seen. But how could they just end it like that???

I think that was really unfair. After waiting through 52 episodes, not only do we not know who he picked...we don't even know if he lived or died! I enjoyed all the clips from past episodes but come on! At least they could've given us a hint at what happened. What a let down after waiting so long.

Agreed, the flash backs were beautiful, but we have to assume what happens. I think he wakes up and lives with Hyun-ja. While Na-young and Minju go to England.

What an ending I couldn’t believe my eyes……..Well, it left me thinking of so many scenarios. Did he make it through the surgery? Did he lose his memories past and present? Or the sad part did he die? This was truly a very deep drama but I am still clueless about the ending. The song that was playing at the end of the drama did he really say goodbye. This was an intense drama and I hope the next drama isn’t as heartbreaking.
The funny thing about the whole thing they never answer the question of what a man does when he has two wife’s? I guess viewers must come up the answer but than again its only a drama but the same situations could happen in really life.

Here's what I think happened: I think he wakes up and doesn't die. The surgery seemed like a success since Sang-jin didn't flatline. I also think he would've woken up by himself seeing as his fingers did move. As far as who he stays with that was already decided before he was out of it. Sang-jin left to live with Hyun-ja. When he showed up she moved away. Hyun-ja can't live without him. So it's natural that they would be together. Na-young allowed him to do whatever he wanted since she would wait her entire life for him. Na-young and Minju would go to England.
BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY: Having thought about it, it didn't matter what happened. The show wasn't about what a man does when he has 2 wives. It was about the love between them. Happy endings are overdone anyway. I'm glad they ended this with a little originality. The last few minutes was the saddest, most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

My reaction to the finale was: What a waste of time! I wasted 52 hours watching this drama, and they couldn't even be bothered to give us an ending. If I wanted to make up an ending for myself out of my own imagination, I could have stopped watching this drama at least 20 episodes ago, since nothing really happened since the death of Mr. Suh. I found it amusing that Sang-jin in a coma was really no different from Sang-jin before the coma -- he did nothing throughout the drama, and all the women ran around him like chickens with their heads cut off.
I'm really angry at myself that I wasted precious time watching Wife at all.

I agree and I hadn't even seen all the episodes, I think I saw episodes 5 and 6 and then the past 2-3 weeks. All I kept thinking man is this dragging, when is it going to end and can it get any more depressing. The only way I can make sense of that ending was to think of it this way - when a show starts its like we just walked into their lives, with this shows abruptly ending it was like we just walked right on out without finding out how it all turned out. Never really knowing how it all ended. I'm just glad its over. Hopefully something a little upbeat will be next..hoping.....

I just finished watching that ending again. Yeah i know why suffer through all that again. I guess I am a glutten for punishment. But the second to the last shot was him walking away then you see the two wives waiting. Soooo I am guessing that he ended up dying thus he didn't have to decided between the two and forcing the wives to rely upon each other.
What I also didn't get was that after all the credits we're taken back to the scene of them waiting outside the operating room and they've changed positions. Was that extra little bit necessary?

I would like to think that is what 'happens' following the final scene, otherwise there would have been no resolution to this drama at all. I find it puzzling that the writers started backing away from a complete plot more around the middle -- even before the death of Mr. Suh, when things were really dragging. Still this un-ending was appropriate (if frustrating) for this un-ending drama. Too bad really, because the ladies in it were so interesting.

You know, I kept wanting the two women to hold hands or something -- to comfort each other, or at least to look into each others' eyes and say, "You know, this jerk of a 'Husband' really isn't worth it and both of us are fools!" But, at least, I wished that the point of the story would have been that the two women would have come together or found some meaning in their relationship.

I think I would really have liked to see more of a story line between those women. To have the husband die and see the two of them learn to lean on each other. I think there was too much focus on him and the women kind of got left out.

gah, I guess I'll have to say it again. THE SHOW WAS ABOUT THE LOVE!!! If you were moved/depressed by the show, then the producers accomplished what they set out to do.

I think there was too much focus on him and the women kind of got left out. I would have to agree with you on that. I think Sang Jin/Young Tae dying and having the wives form a bond or become friends wouldn't have been a bad way to end the drama. To me, Wife was a big disappointment. I liked the idea behind the drama but didn't like how they went about putting it on screen. It's a shame because this drama had good actors who deserved a better script. Wife would've been better if it had been a miniseries or 30 episodes max. I mean, honestly, were the 30 something episodes of Sang Jin/Young Tae going back and forth and not being able to make up his mind between his 2 wives really necessary? They could've easily cut that down 10 episodes. I thought they'd find a way to clean up the whole mess at the end but instead they gave you a cliffhanger ending that left you going 'huh?'. Regardless of how they ended the drama, they wouldn't be able to make all of the viewers happy so they should have just had Sang Jin/Young Tae die. That at least would bring some closure to the story. The one bright spot in the drama though was Uhm Jung Hwa (Hyun Ja). I think she did a great job in her role. Yoo Dong Geun (Sang Jin/Young Tae) was good (as he usually is) but Uhm Jung Hwa really stood out from the rest of the cast. I thought Lee Yuri's character could've brought some life to the story so I was quite surprised that she was (for the most part) cut out of the drama.

I didn't wuite understand the ending. I mean, it was obvious later to me that Sang-jin had died and it's only fair to kill him because giving him to one wife and not the other is just creul- but how could they end it like that? I mean, t should have been more clear. And if people can remember back to when they were taking him to the surgical room, he was twiching his fingers almost as if he was saying good-bye. well, anyway, i didn't like this drama. It had power to it, and it was good, but cut it down to 5 episodes and you can still cover the stuff they tried to in 51.

I agree with Sasami about him walking away = dying.
This had to be the most frustrating drama I have seen. I liked the story in general, and I liked the characters; but it was SO tedious, and then having an ambiguous ending did make me feel cheated.
Honestly, the main reason I kept watching this show was because I was the moderator. Sometimes, I wouldn't even catch up with the show for two weeks, and then fast-forward though four episodes to see what happened. And it still dragged. All in all, a big disapointment.
