Well there certainly was a lot going on in this one. You can like or dislike some parts more than others, but there was never a dull moment.
The opening attack, that’s actually a smart idea to ambush during mealtime. Difficult to fight hard when you’re in the middle of digesting. As for the king himself being right there in the middle of it, they're pulling this stunt more and more lately. Talk about hard to digest....
It sure is lucky that the two armies signal horns didn’t have the same pitch! Can you imagine?
“The poor thing can’t even cry properly.” Really? That looks like a very healthy two-month-old baby! Gotta love TV. But wow she had a boy? That certainly was a shocker, at least to me. I was sure she’d have a girl.
“If you lie at all, you won’t be able to live.” HA! That poor physician is totally screwed either way. But otherwise, good grief that was an unpleasant scene. You hoped that grandpa had the insight to suspect that the physician could be lying...but nope. And again, this is the only doctor left in the entire capital? Baloney. And the opinions of none of the women who saw the baby and knew it’s a preemie weren’t even heard? Baloney. And then Yeohwa with the worst line she’s uttered in the whole series: “His hands and feet look like Eoraha’s.” So bad you had to laugh. Not the writers' finest moment.
Yeom Bo to KG: “I’m so glad to see you that my nostrils are flaring.” Really? Well I suppose it could be a lot worse. But let's not go there.
I was wrong in the previous thread when I questioned the narrated text. Yeogu does want to conquer Liaoxi after all and subjugate Yan. Wow.
And now the king is riding right into the enemy camp? Stop it! Stop it now!
“That’s enough small talk. Why did you come to see me?” KG is a pretty stiff character sometimes but you have to love the no-BS side of him.
“I’m hammering a nail in my daughter’s heart.” Wow, even Yeohwa’s mother and brothers are betraying her? This gets sadder and sadder every episode, what this poor woman is going through and none of it is any fault of her own. And whatever you want to say about how stupid the whole who’s-your-daddy stuff is, give Yeohwa huge, major league props for staring down the whole lot of those high officials and getting out of there with her baby alive. Dang that was impressive!
“You must have a prince.” There he goes again, grandpa telling women these things like they have a choice. He was a real jackass in this episode.
Murong Chui: “I don’t want to fight him. I want an alliance.” Boy there’s another one you didn’t see coming. Some clever ideas towards the end; really enjoyed the new angle about whether or not to trust those Yan people. We’re back to the three-competing-interests story which is good news...and that mysterious message for Sayu, let the wild speculation begin about what’s in the message. You really do not know what’s going to happen next. The only negative about any of it was, I don’t like KG giving that message to Ajikai and trusting him of all people with it. How many times is that guy going to scheme to stab KG in the back (even literally!) and be forgiven for it? Ugh!
But whatever, the story is good on all angles right now, and we're down to the final twenty episodes.
