I never did finish War of the Flowers. Dropped it after a while. Didn't watch it either. I've just seen some Youtube clips. It's not a KBS standard, but at least it's a traditional historical and you can see that they're trying.

Well let's do this then. We'll start Geunchogo and see how it goes, and if after a while it's big dud with people then we'll switch to Dong Yi. And we'll do Dong Yi next even if we finish Geunchogo. By the time we get into the core of Geunchogo we'll hopefully know more about whether or not a new historical is coming and if so what the subject matter is.
Of course we can change any or all of this if something better becomes available on DramaFever or some other source. But the way things are going that doesn't seem likely any time soon.

War Of The Flowers is actually pretty decent, its worth a shot .The main character in WOTF is actually an evil schemer which does make a pleasant change .
Thing with Geunchogo is that it gets very tedious, they really drag it out.
Hwang Jini is on the list, Ha Ji Won's best performance ever (not saying much, but i was fooled into thinking she was a good actress), and its only 16 episodes .

I moved the original Geunchogo thread into this board--the thread that ran when the series originally aired. Also locked it; it's here just for reference.

The City of Incheon will be changing the name of their South District, or Nam-gu, to Michuhol this July. Michuhol was the name of the city-state founded by Biryu, the brother of Onjo(founder of Baekje), in today's Incheon. Both Onjo and Biryu were princes of Goguryeo who came down south to establish their own countries. Onjo established his country in today's Seoul. Seoul turned out to be the better city for a new country and the peasants of Michuhol eventually all moved to Baekje. Biryu committed suicide after losing his peasants to his brother. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biryuwww.yonhapnews.co.kr/bulletin/2018/03/12/0200000000AKR20180312126100004.HTML

Just wanted to apologize for being so slow in getting things going here. Work stuff and family health stuff have kept me busy and too distracted the last few weeks. I'm planning on going through the GOW board and writing something this weekend to finish that one up, and then after I update timeline we'll get Geunchogo going.

Okay I finally made it through all of my GOW notes and got that final thread done. Now just give me a chance to get the timeline caught up with all of the 2017 material and then we'll start Geunchogo. Looks like next weekend will be the start so we'll plan on that for now.
Very sorry it took so long to get this going--just a lot of weird stuff happening at the same time. But things are calming down again.
p.s. sageuk can you share links to those new illustrations?

Thanks for these! I'll have to take some time someday and make a special place for them somewhere else in the forum. They're beautiful drawings and great reference tools as well. Really appreciate your spotting them and sharing them here.
You know what, on second thought let's start Geunchogo this weekend. I'll sit down tomorrow and get through the timeline work I have to do and not keep this waiting any longer. I really miss having a weekly episode to watch. If anybody has to catch up in the next week or so it won't be a problem because we're just starting.
(Note 2/7/19: The first paragraph refers to the hanbok illustrations that I subsequently moved into a separate, dedicated thread.)
