Good heavens what awful news. Only 45 years old. His car flipped completely over after a rear-ender, this sounds like a very strange accident.
Thanks for letting us know about this, truth.

Okay apparently the latest is that he had a heart attack in the car and that's what caused the accident. And just by bad luck it happened near a sloped area with a flight of stairs, and the car got onto the stairs and flipped. Terrible timing to say the least.

Footage of the accident
Korean firefighters rescuing Kim Joohyuk from the vehicle. He was apparently still alive at this time, but passed away 2 hours later in the hospital.

This is so sad, he was one of my favorites when I would watch him on 2days/1night. He is the reason I decided to watch God of War, even though I don't usually watch dramas with so many episodes. I don't know what else to say........it is gonna be so hard to continue watching this drama.

Hi bird...never knew he was on that show and was very surprised to learn that he was. I watched a little bit of the show a long time ago and thought they had younger people on it. Anyway I thought of you as soon as I heard he was on it. It will sure feel strange watching the rest of God of War, I agree. But I'm sure he'd be happy to know that people are continuing to watch and enjoy his work so we'll keep it going and finish the remaining 20 episodes.
The real shock of this is a guy only 45 and seemingly in good shape just suddenly having such a massive heart attack that he couldn't even pull over and stop his car. I wonder if heart trouble runs in his family.

A heart attack? At his age?

The doctors who treated him after the accident apparently found evidence of it, and the guy whose car got dinged said he saw Kim clutching his chest. They're going to do an autopsy.
But yeah, I'm as shocked as you are. That's scary.

This is very shocking and sad. Kim JuuHyuk was a member of 1 N 2 D for two years, starting in Season 3. He left to concentrate more on his acting career, and was eventually replaced by Yoon Shi Yoon. He has been greatly missed since he left.

The real shock of this is a guy only 45 and seemingly in good shape just suddenly having such a massive heart attack that he couldn't even pull over and stop his car. I wonder if heart trouble runs in his family. He apparently smoked 3 packs of cigarette per day. They did a "Quit Smoking for a day" special in 1N2D about 3 years ago and Kim Joohyuk was among the first to fail because he usually smokes 3 packs per day. That might have contributed to his heart attack. His father, who was also an actor, died from a lung cancer in 2005.

Come to think of it, Sylvester Stallone’s son, Sage, was described to be a heavy smoker, and he died of a heart attack as well. That probably explains it

Wow I've never even heard of anybody smoking three packs a day. That's a ton...and yeah from what I've learned smoking not only increases heart attack risk, the more you smoke the more the risk increases. Here's a story about that 2 Days episode: www.kdramastars.com/articles/17202/20140310/1-night-2-days-members-struggle-to-quit-smoking-cigarette.htmAccording to the story, the whole thing came about because Kim realized his smoking was affecting his health. It's a shame they didn't follow up on this with something more sensible than trying to go cold turkey after that much smoking.

I forgot all about the "Quit smoking" episode of 2days1night. It was a sad episode to watch, to see people continue to smoke when they know there are all kinds of risks involved with it, especially younger people like Jung Joon Young (though it is not shown vey often, I hear that G-Dragon smokes, too. Why would people who depend on their voices risk smoking it just hard to believe-- but I bet with all the stress of touring/recording they come to depend on it) I was so happy because new episodes of "Return of Superman" were back on YouTube and I was anticipating seeing new episodes of "2days1night"--- it is going to be hard to get back to watching it even if Joo Hyuk left the show a while ago....I can't even imagine how it will be for the other members of the show. Thanks, ajk for remembering how much I like this show.....

There are new reports saying that he didn't actually have a heart attack and that accident might have happened due to a prescription he takes which could have extreme drowsiness as a side effect.

It's good that they're doing the autopsy then. Give everybody some answers. Maybe it was both.
