It’s cool seeing a recap like this.
Oh, Choi Soojong played Crown Prince Sado

Great find sageuk--thanks! Sure enjoyed seeing glimpses of these series.
I'm a little confused because the clip says the group ran for 538 episodes but I've found episode counts for ten of the eleven series and they total 543 episodes. And that's without the eleventh. Hmmm....
Of course if MBC would ever release them all onto the Internet then we'd know for sure. Sigh.

The poster on you tube, that Sageuk found is actually subbing these dramas, he/she/they have done 5 episodes of Ladies Of The Palace (Great so far ), and 18 of West Palace . Still he is uploading lots of unsubbed stuff, and the prints look great, not old VHS rips . Now lets pray MBC, SBS and KBS do not get wind of what he is doing, or he will have to take them all down .
I have no idea where he is getting this stuff, because the prints look re-mastered. Maybe some Korean station is re broadcasting them ?.

The Tears of the Dragon episode I showed y'all got taken down, so it might be a matter of time. As for a Korean station rebroadcasting...its possible? I mean there is a channel in Korea that rebroadcasts historicals, but most of the stuff I've seen are 2000s or 2010s. The channel also aired stuff from the 90s, which is where that Tears of the Dragon vid came from. I have not however, come across anything from the 80s. If it was from a rebroadcast channel, shouldn't there be that station's logo? EDIT: The Japanese DVD market seems to stock old Kdramas. Maybe that's where its from? global.rakuten.com/en/store/smileone-dvd/item/10216754/

Wow, look at that set! 25 DVDs, the entire thing. Shocked to see that it even exists. And for a used set it's a bargain price for somebody who speaks Korean.
Now I'm wondering if this has anything to do with why the networks aren't making these shows available on streaming sites. Are they making more money from DVD sales?

I think my theory about the sources being from dvds sold in Japan might be right. In the intro song for Ladies in the Palace, katakana (a type of Japanese alphabet) appears above the Korean people's names

They (or he) is still adding episodes of other dramas .
Hang Myung Hoe has 9 episodes
Namhan Mountain Fortress has 6 episodes .
Chronicles Of The Three Kingdom's has 1 episode .
West Palace has 21 episodes (first one subtitled )
King Of Chundong Palace has 3 episodes .
Ladies In The Palace has 5 subtitled episodes .
Six Martyred Minsters has 1 subtitled episode .
So far so good, i have a horrible feeling these may get taken down soon, lets hope K Drama Doomed does not live up to his name .

That is a great price for them, though they are probably Region 3, which means you will need an all region DVD player, or play them on a computer . I do believe the first Korean historical dramas, that aired with subtitles happened in 1998 . I think KIKU TV in Hawaii used to do in house subbing on K Dramas, before the major networks like KBS/MBC and SBS started doing their own .

www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SbJeGMA2ZMNow King of Chudong Palace is up. The one about the creation of the Joseon Dynasty. It seems my theory is correct about the DVDs being from Japan. Scroll down on the comments and the guy who uploaded it said there are only Japanese subtitles

It's so strange to watch an episode of a historical and not recognize any of the actors!

AKJ check this clip from Ladies In The Palace (its subtitled as well), and you will see a bevy of ladies we all know as being middle aged, when they were young lasses . www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWYDZ5dsBckNamhan Mountain Fortress now has 12 episodes . Must admit i am enjoying this one, despite not being subtitled, swore i would never do that again after Tears Of The Dragon, upon which i just gave up . But this is easier to follow, and its better than the recent film . Ladies Of The Palace now has subtitled episodes, i like this drama a lot, waited 10 years to see it, its a winner, not a binner . Shame Mugwump is not around, she would love this stuff .

Oh mugwump's around, she still visits periodically, happy to report.
Thanks for flagging the clip. Have to confess I don't recognize any of the actresses...but I'm bad with faces so that's probably on me. Sure hope the person posting this stuff can keep it up; it's fantastic to see even snippets of these older shows.
