Aw gee, did they have to start the episode with that silly stare-down? Blecch.
This was another episode that didn't get very far along in the story. But it wasn't bad, for a couple of reasons. One, the location shots. This series has had fantastic location shots and the coastline views in this episode were exceptionally beautiful. Bravo. (On the other hand, the floodlighting was totally out of hand in the nighttime scenes. Didn't look good at all.)
And two, Chief Jang! Great to see Jeong Hyo Keun get so much screen time. The way Jang glared at JB, how can you not love that. He was real good in his scene with Madam Jami, too--that was an excellent scene. And he did the swimming scene himself, give him credit for that. Just a personal preference but I always enjoy the guy in every series he's in. He made this episode worthwhile all by himself.
"You got too involved with the arrest of Jang Bogo and Kim Woo-jing." Yes she did; big credit to Neung-chang for looking Madam Jami in the eye and telling her that.
Sorry JB but if you're gonna attack the pirate HQ like that you're gonna need a lot more than one ship full of attackers.
Hmmm, looks like they HAD more than one ship of attackers. Gotta love TV!
What a bizarre twist that encounter with the Japanese was. They just showed up in two rowboats? No, sorry, if they came from Japan then there had to be a larger ship around somewhere. And what was the point anyway? It all just suddenly happened out of nowhere and then was forgotten immediately. Very weird.
Just asking, but should the grand chief really be the one leading the charge in a war zone? Oh well, gotta love TV. And where did that snow come from? All of a sudden it's snowing on one beachfront but not the next one? Ugh.
"Yi Do-heung's pirates have over a hundred bases." Wow...okay, now we have a better idea of the extent of their power. It would have been better for us to learn some of this much earlier. Whatever, it certainly makes clear how much of a problem the pirates would have been at that time. No wonder it was so difficult to get rid of them.
Why did the regent go to Madam Jami and tell her exactly what he's going to do? Characters in this series feel the need to do this, and it's absolutely foolish.
YM forgiving the deserters, Joong-dal was right to be baffled by that. You figured they were dead men.
