This was another episode that started out slow and then got very interesting as the storyline got more complex and suspenseful. You really didn't know how or if Madam Jami was going to work her way out of her jam. The rebellion angle has definitely injected some life into the series. Hopefully it continues.
But really, the JB-versus-YM stuff, over and over and over again, it's way past ridiculous. Way past. I thought DJY and Chulin in the woods over and over again was bad but this has surpassed it, and in many fewer episodes.
And now YM is back to the If-I-can-only-have-your-body-and-not-your-heart stuff. His inner conflict about Jung-hwa made him a more interesting character, but by now it's starting to reflect poorly on him. Make up your mind already.
Beautiful opening scene...yet again a gorgeous location shot. My favorite thing about this series by far, all the beautiful locations.
As soon as Kim Chang-gyum saw those troops approaching, he should have grabbed Madam Jami's letter and flung it into the ocean. What a bonehead move to charge the troops instead. Madam Jami deserves whatever happens to her for trusting such an important task to a bonehead.
Why is everybody just standing there watching JB and Neung-chang dueling? Hey Yon you dummy, walk over there and take Madam Jami into custody! This whole thing should be over in about five seconds. Sheesh!
The blacksmith was good in this one. And you know who else was good, Master Yi in those end scenes. He expressed so much without words, that was very good acting. He was excellent in GKS so no surprise. I like him a lot. (Kim Gap Soo)
"I never expected her to use the minister." A really stupid move by JB, leaving the Shillan envoy alone with Madam Jami. Really, really stupid. Yet further proof the guy's no Einstein.
Can we please stop with JB and Madam Jami trash-talking each other. It's silly. And frankly she comes across as tougher than he does!
"You can't risk your life for a girl." Sorry Master Yi but I disagree. The right one, you can.
Beautiful ships sailing on that aquamarine sea, another great visual. But why are all the soldiers standing at attention on the decks? That's just gonna make them seasick.
Speaking of actors I like...It took 24 episodes to get even part of the character's name: Chief Jang. (Jung Ho Keon)
That attack on Yi Sa-do's camp started out as the most interesting battle scene in the series so far...and then the staring started. Good grief that was agonizing. Talk about bringing a scene to a screeching halt....
p.s. Just curious: Did they have pierced ears in those days? Jung-hwa is wearing pierced earrings.
