A much better episode! More thoughtful, calmer, the plot's moving along now, and none of the bullying and sympathy-tugging stuff. First time I've looked forward to seeing the next episode. I still don't like the secret-message gimmick, but the plot surrounding it is turning out to be entertaining so far.
The scenes with JYS and Yi Cheon were especially good, how they ended up looking after each other. I hope this part of the story continues.
Can't say I'm thrilled to see Youngsil's goofball friend show up again, but that's not a big deal.
GKS had scenes of the crown prince going out in plainclothes, so him going out looking for the stonemason is consistent with that.

Yi Cheon reveals his family background in this episode, which is all true.
Yi Cheon was Yeom Heungbang's nephew and Yeom's family was wiped off by Lee Seonggye.

OK sure, I remember YH from Jeong Dojeon...he was exiled at one point but JD didn't mention anything about anything worse. Good to know.

Darn it, yes he was and not only did I forget about that, I never put their executions into the JD character roster so when I checked it there was no mention. Ugh. Roster has been corrected.
I remember I was totally pissed that we lost Im, I was enjoying the character so much. Guess I forgot to note the deaths.
