There's an apology on MBC's website for recent difficulties with airing subtitled programs. I also received it by e-mail. Here's the text of it (with a few typos fixed):
To all our viewers,
Recently you have experienced some inconvenience with MBC dramas. The reason for that is one of our staff members who used to handle programming (it was one of many work activities he had to do) left our company.
We cannot afford to hire additional resources. In order to provide English subtitles to our dramas, one staff member has to spend extra 3-5 hours to capture dramas from satellite and convert them to sync audio and video (again this is extra process to provide subtitles). What’s worse is that we have outdated servers and computers so they make it harder for our staff to work efficiently. Again, this is on top of other activities they have to do every day (filming, interviewing, reporting, ad productions, etc.). We are trying our best in current environment to bring good programs to your home. Please be patient with us.
I've been too busy lately to watch much except Jingbirok, so I'm not sure what's going on with other shows at either station. But to whatever extent anyone else has noticed problems, I figured I would post this here.
I was also told by Mrs. Kim that they'd be very grateful for any donations anyone wants to make to help them get some better servers. She says better servers would help them get their work done much faster. So if anybody wants to pitch in, please go to their website (link is in this board) and contact them. Would be a very nice thing if somebody who can afford to help them out would be willing to do it. Servers ain't cheap.
