Hi holden...I assume when they say "cause" they're not meaning it like "because", right? That tends to be a short version of the word "because." I think they say it like "We have good cause" for doing something. It means justification or good reason to support what you want to do.
For instance, that idiot who shot the lion in Zimbabwe, well, Zimbabwe has cause to ask the USA to extradite him. He broke their laws so they may want to have a trial there.
Does that help?

thank you ajk but in drama jeong do jeon its different .for example in this drama they say "i didn't give up on the cause " OR "Join the cause for a dynastic revolution." OR "The cause isn't just my will , It is Lee Seonggye's will." OR "I guess the cause turned several people to monsters" OR "I am going to seek the cause" OR "I will be the center of the cause." OR "My cause is to sit on the throne with you and Sambong by my sides."
its like the word " cause" is some thing specific , not just a purpose or a goal which any one has his own.some times like the second sentence , "cause" can mean a movement.or in the last sentence it means goal. they use some thing like" te ob"in Korean for word " cause" in all above sentences.now you think its ok to translate it as " the great purpose "? well , i spoke a lot! but i hope you will kindly answer my question. thank you in advance.

OK I understand now, holden. I'm sorry, I forgot until now. Yeah they kept talking about the "great cause" in that series. It just means the thing they're trying to accomplish. Like their "goal"--they could have just said that's their goal but it sounds more dramatic and important to say it's their "great cause." That's the answer.
