GKS came from the same book that produced Tears Of The Dragon, it was pretty close to flawless for me, and i loved those bag pipes. The pop song did suck granted .

I'm gonna temporarily hijack this thread to say that I was reading these posts (yeah, I'll read anything here) and started to watch Daemang and I am hooked, only up to episode 3, but so far so good....so Thanks!

Thank you Bird, always glad to see another convert to the Daemang cause, i think many people have been put off because its a fictional story, but as we can see in this case it does not matter as the drama is so good.

I just finished watching Daemang, and it gets a big thumbs up. Good story, interesting characters, brisk pace. No annoying comic relief eating up precious air time. It does lose some points for the sappy love song that popped up periodically. I'd say a bit more, but I can't remember how to hide spoiler text.

If i remember its around 97 or 98, Drama Cool is a great site, i have been watching Gunshi Kanbee (Kuroda Kanbei) and trying to watch Great Kings Dream (its a tough one).

Another AOW character I can't stand. Lady Buyoung, the Archfiend's mistress.

Gunshi Kanbee - terrific show. I enjoy watching all the ways characters like Hideyoshi / Tokugawa get portrayed. I also enjoyed NHK's Tenchijin which covered the same era.
Great King's Dream - yuk.
Hooray for Dramacool. Now if only they got Yi Soon Shin...

Just found out that the actor who played Ok-Hwan in GKS voiced Genie in Korean dub version of Aladdin.
Mind-blown.

Mugwump Sanada Maru is worth checking out, though i preferred the 1985 Sanada Taiheike, both are on Drama Cool. I have tried to watch the new one Naotora The Lady Warlord, about the Ii clan and the young Ieyasu, but its garbage, so bad its not even funny.
