See the thread I started in the 24.7 board. Right now I have no idea when, or if, Episode 3 will air in Chicago. Looks like regular KBS programming will air only on 13.2 from now on...and the 13.2 people haven't provided a viewing schedule. So I don't know if they're even going to give us Jingbirok. I assume we won't get Episode 4 either, at least not Sunday evening.
I'll try to get information on Monday morning and let everyone know if I find anything out.

For what it’s worth, ajk, this has got to be the most screwed-up new drama introduction that I’ve ever seen – Korean or American.
DirectTV couldn’t be bothered to update their on-screen schedule in a timely manner, so I didn’t discover that Jingbirok was even running until Episode 6. That caught me by surprise as (in the past) the Chicago and DirecTV KBS schedules usually matched up.
But, I started recording it anyway, beginning with Episodes 7 & 8 (which ran last weekend). And Episode 9 was broadcast last night, just as scheduled.
So, what’s the problem? Aside from the fact that I missed Episodes 1-6, it seems that DirecTV has decided to broadcast it WITHOUT ENGLISH SUBTITLES.
Which is probably why DirecTV had the unexpected, three-week head start on Chicago – DirecTV couldn’t be bothered to wait a few weeks for the English subtitled version to be ready.
And that’s truly astonishing, as KBS tends to subtitle everything. Even the unbelievably bad “Gag Concert” gets English subs – but not their premier historical drama of 2015?
So disappointing! From what I’ve been able to see, Jingbirok looks to have tremendous potential. But, as you’ve noted numerous times, the Korean big-wigs (sadly) seem to have a rather low regard for their English-speaking audience.

And here I am, trying watch the show unsubbed, using a Korean-English dictionary as well as the Imjin War history book to get an idea of what's going on.

mikey, how the heck are you? Good to hear from you. Part of your situation, I think I can solve. If you go to the KBS America website and click on Broadcast at the top and then click on Schedule/Channel List, you get a schedule option for DirecTV (click on the American flag for English). From looking at all of those schedules I can tell you that the DirecTV schedule is different from the others and that it did show Jingbirok starting two or three weeks before it started on the broadcast outlets. Don't know why that would be--there's yet another mysterious angle in this whole thing--but maybe what they're posting is accurate. Check it out and see if it works. The subtitle thing, though, wow I have no words for that. Stupid beyond all comprehension. You might try to contact KBS World and complain about that, because even for them it doesn't make any sense.
sageuk, I had no idea you were watching unsubbed. Gives me more motivation to do my best here! Hope this doesn't all crash and burn around me and I can see the series after all.
Now here's one piece of good news. When I was trying to get information on when the series would start on 24.7, our member ronin posted some instructions on how to use the TV Guide website. Well I tried those instructions just today and got some listings for 13.2. It shows "Historical Drama" airing at 10:20 p.m. Central tonight (Sunday), at 10:50 a.m. Monday morning, and 12:10 a.m. Tuesday morning. That's what it shows for next week, too: three airings. I don't know what that means, but I'll check them out and see what shows up. Fingers crossed big-time.
P.S. The schedule also shows "Empire of Sea" airing at 8:20 on Tuesday mornings. Could that be Emperor of the Sea? I'll try to check on that as well.

Good news! I just watched Episode 3 on 13.2. So we're in business, without skipping an episode. I don't know exactly when Episode 4 will air; presumably the Tuesday morning airing is the Episode 4 repeat; maybe it will first air tomorrow evening at some point. If I can get a hold of someone at KBC Chicago who speaks English tomorrow, hopefully I'll find out more.
The bad news is that it's still the shortened version. The KBC Chicago people were usually good about showing uncut episodes. Hope that changes at some point...but it's much better than nothing for now.
The summaries are going to be delayed until I make sure I have Episode 4 on tape and can get to work on both. So be patient with me and I'll get caught up as soon as I can.

Still, it’s such a bummer not having subtitles. Despite having watched Korean dramas for maybe 10+ years, I still haven’t the slightest idea what they’re talking about in these darn shows. Well, maybe I know some silly stuff like “eeee-yeah, Cho-nah!” but the point of that would be pretty obvious to almost everybody. I figure that I’ll watch "Jingbirok" here and there, but honestly, my past attempts to watch un-subbed dramas have nearly always ended in failure. Rarely were the struggles worth all the effort required.

Episode 4 is airing now, as I type this. It started just before midnight on 13.2. I'm taping it and will watch and summarize it as soon as I can...but it might be a while; not sure what my schedule is going to be like and this new days/times schedule has thrown me a curve.
